I just picked this up for $25. Does anybody have more information on it?

From what I can find these Windows XP Commemorative Edition copies were given to Windows developers at the launch of Windows XP, but the person who sold me mine said his brother (who worked at Microsoft) bought it at the employee store, and that only 200 were available. I'm assuming they were both given out/sold?

I have no idea how many of these were made but the certificate of authenticity has #00022 imprinted on it, so I'm assuming mine was the 22nd made.

Does anybody have more insight into these? I'm curious, but there's virtually nothing online about them. If you have a copy, what number is yours?

Want to get a Windows XP compatible computer for my brother.

Hi, I've been thinking about getting a native/compatible Windows XP computer/laptop for my little brother. He is all interested in this era of Windows, in its aesthetics and in the development of this OS, as he has installed multiple VMs in his own laptop to test different development builds of Windows XP, Longhorn, Vista, etc.

I was thinking about getting him a separate machine only for him to toy around with, maybe with a big enough HDD to partition and so he can test different versions of OS's in each one of those. Plus, some of his VM's run kinda slow, and I would want him to experience the "real deal", maybe learn something or two more about computers.

Should I just get a cheap computer/laptop and slap Windows XP on it? Or would it be better to get a computer/laptop from around this time? If so, could any of you recommend such a device?

Thanks in advance for your help.

So since i burned XP to a cd today, i also decided to make a design for the cd’s case. How’d it turn out? (The back still has no design, im lazy)

Got a bunch of Pro keys

Awhile back I enrolled in a class at my Local Community College. Included with the materials provided by the instructor were a bunch Windows XP Pro keys. I base 64 encoded the list to prevent sniping by bots. Each line is a key, pick one at random or don't. Since it's EOL and there's nothing in the rules about it I figured this was okay to post.

EDIT: added links to setup media.

256 or 512 MB of VRAM

Thinking about building an authentic XP machine with the Radeon X1900 series. I’m leaning towards the X1900 GT simply because they seem more premium and look nicer than the X1950 Pro, but they are limited to 256 MB of memory, unlike the X1950 Pro. Is 256 MB of memory enough for high settings (AA whenever possible) and smooth gameplay at 1024 x 768 or 1366 x 768 resolutions in games up to 2006/2007? No demanding games like Crysis. Should I go with the X1950 Pro? Are my expectations too high?

I need some help 🙏🏼

Hello guys I just discovered this magnific community!
It’s been a while since I got the desire to have the best possible windows xp PC for gaming.
The only problem is that I don’t know absolutely anything about how to build a PC, I would love to find a pre assembled one.
I could also buy the single parts and pay someone to build it ( there are a lot of people in my city that do that).
I don’t care a lot about the budget but i really would love a beast that could play all the xp era games at the maximum performance.
Could someone please help me, thank you for your time!
(Sorry for my english) 🫶🏻✌🏼

My period correct Windows XP retro PC

It’s still using the modular Antec PSU I purchased in 2009. This thing doesn’t see much use but I’ll fire it up once in a while to play old games like Call of Duty 2 or Doom 3. It has an activated copy of MS Office 2003 on it too.

yes, that's XP (or POS) in use today

not the best image in the world from my phone, but I thought this was cool when I was travelling this morning. haven't seen XP on a public device since like 2019, or even 7 in years, so this must be an 'it works, don't touch it!!' situation.

Vintage pc doesn't show hdd in bios

I have an old machine with the following spec:

Motherboard — Intel OEM board, BIOS BF86510A.86A.0036.P07, Intel 865 chipset

RAM — 512 MB DDR333, single channel, in Channel A Slot 0. Three slots free.

Graphics — NVIDIA TNT2 Model 64, 32 MB, AGP 8x slot

Storage — Seagate ST320014A, 20 GB, Ultra ATA (currently not detected)

Expansion — AGP 8x plus several PCI slots

Ports — PS/2 keyboard and mouse, serial, parallel, USB, onboard audio and LAN

Era — roughly 2003

However despite the hdd spinning up it is not detected in bios.

Rescued this "mystery PC" ... anyone know more about it?

saved from the dump! ...from 2002 with a VIA motherboard and athlon chip. Don't know much more about it, but it throws the "copy of windows is not genuine" error and also has some 'questionable' (prob adware etc.) stuff on it, so definitely needs fresh copy of windows, but anyone here have thoughts on where i might go about finding the drivers it would need with the fresh install?
