AITA for refusing to switch seats on a flight even after the guy offered me $200 cash

this happened last week and people in my life are split so i need outside opinions

i had a 6 hour flight, booked like 2 months ahead specifically to get window seat, extra legroom row. i don't do this often bc flights are expensive but i had some money set aside and decided to treat myself for once

about 10 min before takeoff this guy comes up and very nicely asks if i'd swap with his wife so they could sit together. i said sorry no i really wanted this seat. he said ok no problem, went back to his seat

then like 2 mins later he comes back and goes "what if i give you $200 cash right now" and pulls out the bills

and i still said no

not because i'm heartless but his wife's seat was a middle seat, no extra legroom, way in the back. i was tired, i paid for the upgrade, i had my neck pillow set up, my snacks out, i was ready to decompress for 6 hours. the $200 wasn't worth that trade to me

the wife caught my eye during boarding and gave me a look i still think about

my friend says i should have just taken the money and been a decent human being. my other friend said my seat my choice, full stop

AITA
