On the topic of wrong photos being used
Like the Roberto Carlos one mentioned on the podcast yesterday, this photo of Zidane is used a lot when talking about his performances at the World Cup but it is clearly from after he retired. It is from 2008, a tenth anniversary thing. Really annoys me every time I see it.

Scotland - Brazil commentary
Slightly awkward start to the match as Liam McLeod has clearly come loaded with lots of fun little facts surrounding the game such as the other events going on at the stadium, people in the crowd or Paqueta dancing to bagpipes in a video, yet Scotland’s horrific start has meant the game has a lot more tense and James McFadden is absolutely silent.

Pre World Cup friendlies
Was quite annoyed to see that the USA had played Germany in a pre tournament friendly yesterday, it seemed a bit too high profile this close to the opening games. A host nation against a team who could potentially win it. It also fails at being one of my favourite thing about pre World Cup friendly matches: the opposition standing in for a team that’s “a bit like” someone in their group. Scotland vs Bolivia (a bit like Brazil) is perfect.

Left it late
Watching the goals of the 2014 World Cup on the BBC website and was struck by the BBC saying Germany had left it to late to win the World Cup.
It just doesn't quite feel right for a winning goal in a World Cup final, especially being in extra time. Leaving it late suggests to me a team who is favourite to win scoring a goal in the last 10 minutes or so, rather than two equal teams in a huge match.
