Wavy care help in Hawaii (high humidity and lots of swimming)

Hey y’all, I need some gosh darn help. I am about 1 year into my curly girl journey and I feel like I’ve come a long way and got my shii figured out! I have a mixed curl pattern, anywhere from 2b - 3a (thank you Irish ancestry). I have fine but DENSE hair, ie: thin but plentiful strands. Picture for reference. This is my routine:

  1. Double wash w/ Davines curl love shampoo follow with Davines curl love conditioner. I detangle with a wide tooth comb in the shower w/conditioner in.
  2. 1x per week I use the Davines Oi butter conditioning mask
  3. After shower I use a curl sculpting mousse
  4. After mousse, I use a medium-strong hold gel (technically a gel to oil product for moisture)
  5. Then I either air dry or diffuse. Diffusing obvi gives better results, but I do just fine with air dry sometimes.
I wash my hair 3 times a week (roughly) and use a dry shampoo paste and revitalizing spray in between washes. I usually sleep on a silk pillowcase and/or use a bonnet.

I normally live in the Bay Area in CA, and all of the above works wonders. But, this summer I have a job in Honolulu, HI, and I’ll be here for two months. I have two problems that I need help with:

  1. Since getting to the island my hair has been STRUGGLING. It is so humid here so it’s frizzing, yet at the same time I feel like my curls are falling limp.

  2. Since I’m here and the ocean is so lovely, I have made it my goal to swim and get in everyday. I need some advice on how to handle swimming in this salty af water without sucking all the moisture out of my hair and to prevent washing it excessively.

Sorry this is long af, I am so grateful to anyone who gets this far 😂🙏

Living in Honolulu for a couple months - what should I do

Aloha everybody,
I’m visiting the island for a few months as a temporary hire for UH. I got a little sublet apartment in Waikiki because it’s so close to the campus and I wanted an easy commute, but I’m trying to get away from the super busy tourist zones. I bought a moped for my time here, so I have a pretty good travel distance, just can’t go on the major highways. I lived in Eva for a while when I was a kid, but it’s been 20 years and the island is a very different place than it was back then! I’m looking for 1) good food recs 2) beaches outside of Honolulu/Waikiki, and 3) generally good (low cost) things to do when I’m not working.

Mahalo!
