Ring neck dove recuse
Okay, so I have someone who got a pair of abandoned ringneck doves in a rough spot—all seed diet with no grit or veggies, tiny cage. I want to take them in, but here's my problem: I'm not sure what to do about a cage. I've seen some people use dog cages and some use big bird cages. Right now, the main goal is just getting them help and then making upgrades over time.
I have a dog cage that is H 21, W 19, L 30, but the space between the bars is 1 and a 1/2 inches. I have no clue if that's too big. They are a mated pair that are between 7 and 10 years old.
Cage two is a bird cage I have on hand: H 32, W 21, L 25. The space between the bars is 5/8.
I know they need longer cages over taller ones; these are just the choices I have on hand right now, and I can make upgrades in a month or two, give or take.
Right now, the cage they have is tall but maybe less than 10 inches wide and maybe, on a good day, 20 inches long. The female sits on the bottom of the cage a lot since there is no platform.
I would also love diet ideas, brands, and care tips. I have had birds before, but not doves.
