Mourning dove adolescent needs help(?)

Over the 4th of July, a bid smacked right into my grandma’s window while we were visiting. I walked away thinking that the bird was going to get up and then walk away like some usually do, but this one stood around, and was still there after everything.

I took it inside to make sure the bird is ok and had a place to recover, and the bird hasn’t had any food or water for a bit (since yesterday) to make sure it wouldn’t accidentally choke or have more problems with it.

This morning I took the bird outside to walk around and make sure it could mabye fly away since everything happened, but I came back to it and it’s still having problems with flying, extending its right wing and and honestly its behavior is reminding me of an animal with a concussion.

My question is, should I leave the bird in the underbrush and come back, or keep it in a box until tomorrow and then go up to the wildlife rehab and get the bird checked out? I’m really worried since I know fledglings have issues flying but this one seems to be still affected by hitting the window.

My budgie has had these “incomplete” moults for a few months

My Kiki has been dropping feathers like these, where the keratin isn’t fully removed and when I pull it gently apart it entirely separates… and for some reason looks very scruffy. I’m unsure what else to do as I’ve tried iodine water, given more mineral stones and cuttlefish bones. Is this anything to be concerned about or is this normal?

If you find a swift

Hey Guys, a short info for this sub to make things a lot easier for me. If some reconize a Swift in this sub that needs help, please contact me or give the person that found the bird my name. I'm a professional caretaker for swifts with the extra ability to help people that have no help nearby. I'm able to contact people that are in no phone book or seek veterinary in other countries that are specialized in swifts. And an extra note, if you also wanna help the birds or the people...the clinic in Frankfurt only functions through donations. And they have a lot to do this year.

Advice: possible broken blood feather

I noticed Tillman the green cheek conure had some blood on her foot this morning around 7. I couldn’t find where it was coming from and thought she may have just nicked herself on her foot. this afternoon around 4, I noticed there was a spot on her underbelly behind her leg (not her vent) that was about half the size of a pinky nail of blood-covered feathers.

Her past makes wrangling her difficult, but I was able to towel her and apply some pressure to the area. Only after more searching does it seem like I needed to pinch the feather itself and/or remove it with tweezers.

Please advise

Nearest emergency room with avian vet is 2 hours away and they leave in 5 hours. Bleeding looks like it’s stopped, she’s eating and moving fine, and beak grinding. She wanted to go to bed at her usual time, but I’m wondering if I need to get her in the car.

Need Urgent help for this bird

I'll get straight to the point. So in the morning the nest of this bird fell down in our hostel. So now there is this little bird who only knows how to fly a little bit only. You can say approx to the height of an adult man. So now he is roaming in the lobby because it has no home. I tried to make a box for this little guy but he keeps coming out of it every time. Now it's night time and he is trying to fly a little bit. I'm worried as to some dog or cat might come, what should I do?

Molting or something else? He’s acting completely fine. I can probably take him to the vet after this holiday weekend if needed.

should I take my budgie to a vet?

Hi!

For context, my budgie had taken a liking to me, to the point where he followed me around the house and would come greet me when I came home if he was out of his cage.

On thursday (only a day went by) I came back home and didn’t know he was out of his cage. I had heavy boxes so I didn’t know where I was putting my feet, and I accidentally stepped on him.

I removed my foot immediately because I heard him cry, but I still ripped most of his tail feathers out and he limped.

He doesn’t seem to limp anymore, he jumps around the cage without any problems and flies, eats and drinks normally. My mother noticed that he doesn’t chirp anymore (he was very vocal before) and that he seems to keep stretching a wing, but doesn’t appear to have problems flying.

I asked chatgpt for help, but then I thought that maybe asking an actual professional would be better, so I’m here hoping someone could give me advice.

What do I do?

UPDATE: yesterday I took him to an avian vet in my town, xray and exams show nothing! vet says he struggles to balance a little because of the absence of his tail, but other than that he’s just offended lol. Also we noticed he does chirp, he just doesn’t do it with us in the room.
Thank you to everyone who replied and helped!

Does anyone know what's wrong with his toes?

I've got a jackdaw fledgling with one severely swollen toe on the one foot and a similar growth on the back of the other foot. It's weight bearing and seems not to be slowing him down but not sure if it's something I need to treat before it makes him unwell. Can anyone help? :)

My cat brought back a little injured bird and idk what to do.

Yeah, so basically I now have this little bird sleeping on my windowsill and have no clue what to do. I don't really know what type of bird it is, google lens said that it's a Eurasian blue tit fledgling and that they eat insects. Other than that I don't really know anything else about it. Again I have no clue what to do (Other than take it to the vet in the morning), could someone please help me out.

Like, am I supposed to feed it and if so what?

Hai I saved this bird but I don't know anything about it

It is alive and breathing. I think it's just very tired for the moment. I found it in my yard, couldn't fly but walk with ease, no visible wound or damage, and when I held it the whole way to that lil box it grabbed my fingers with his claws juste fine. I would say it's a female ? But I don't even know what breed it is and most importantly what do I feed it ? I also don't know how to give it water without it pouring it everywhere or drowning accidentally... 😅 Last thing but I should I keep it somewhere cooler ? It rises pretty high recently since I'm from Europe, it's in the shadow and pretty high (so my cat can't reach) but I'm worried it's too hot ? :(
I have no idea if that's important but I do comfort it with pets (it doesn't show any sign of stress when I do but enlighten me), and I tried to make it a nest ? Just for comfort.
I really want to rescue this bird.

Update 1 it's moving and I think is interested in the seeds ? It's grooming itself and shows absolutely no stress by my presence.

Update 2 I won't pet it no more thank you for telling me :)

Update 3 No touching no feeding no water, cool dark space get it. Thank you all :)

Update 5 I'm calling rescue centers, most of them also told me to keep it in warm place instead of cool, but I'm perplexed because there's a heatwave here... Anyway I'll make a last update for when it's taken by the rescuers. Right now it stills show no signs of injury or sickness but still cannot fly. With a professional on the phone I tried to make it fly but it just landed (not from high dw).

Update 6 Birdie was took to a rescue center. It behaved so well and I'll get more news by September :)

Help is this stress bars?

One of my green cheek conure pair has stress bars and the other doesn’t. I’m fairly certain it’s new and due to maybe moulting because they keep shedding some feathers but I’m worried it may be more

My budgie has staphylococcus, half of its facial feathers fell out after antibiotic treatment. Need advice!

Hello everyone,

Back in January, my bird was diagnosed with a Staphylococcus bacterial infection. The vet prescribed Augmentin (Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid) and told me that the feathers would slowly grow back.

However, there has been no improvement since then. Recently, half of the feathers on its face (around the eyes and beak) have completely fallen out.

I am very worried that the bacteria became resistant, or this might be a secondary fungal infection (like yeast/aspergillus) due to the antibiotic usage ruining the immune system. It could also be mites or viral (PBFD).

  • Location: Turkey
  • Previous Medication: Augmentin (in January)
  • Current Symptoms: Severe feather loss on the face, no regrowth elsewhere.

Now, there is no avian vet here in village. Any advice on how to support its immune system right now would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

(I have some Röhnfield product such as GervitW, BT-Amin Forte, Usnegano and probiotic.)

Heat waves are dangerous to your birds!

Hi there!

It’s very hot right now in the US and much of Europe. At this time last year, my boy Quaker got heatstroke. the AC went out and he was caged by a window. I forgot to pull the shade and came home to a lethargic bird. He was quiet when I came home, when I’m usually greeted by yells of joy or demand. my poor boy was resting on the floor of the cage, and he NEVER plays down there. He was not very alert and clearly not right. I picked him up and held him with his belly and legs in a tepid bath, and got him cooled down. we sat in front of a fan and in a couple hours he was fine.

if your bird is panting, waving it’s tongue back and forth with beak open, or holding its wings out from body it is TOO HOT. the Bird will act quiet, or “out of it“ if it’s feeling really bad. This might be a good time to offer a bowl of water to help your bird cool off. Or mist your bird to start the cooling process without him needing to climb into the bowl.

Quakers are temperate climate birds. And all parrots manage their exposure to heat, because they’re small and they can’t sweat. If your parrot was outdoors, they’d get somewhere cool and shadowy in the hot part of the day. You need to make sure your indoor bird doesn’t get too hot because heat stress can kill a bird. Being stuck in a cage in a sunny window can be a problem; for example if your AC fails!

if your bird is too hot, panting or acting dazed/ sitting on floor of his cage, get him or her to a cooler environment, mist the bird with water or let it take a bath if it’s well enough, OR hold it in your hands with its belly and legs in coolish bath water. Too-hot birds will get quiet, gasp or pant, hold wings away from body; or be unable to perch and lay on cage floor.

If your bird doesn’t recover quickly, you need to call your vet and get emergency treatment. But it’s really best to start your bird cooking down first! This is urgent.

A depressed or disoriented bird needs to cool down fast. Heat stroke can kill a tiny bird. Panting isn’t cute or funny, it’s alarming. Keep an eye on your feathered companions during these sweltering days!

How can I help this baby Robin?

Found this bird in my backyard fireescape. It is likely a Robin since there is a nest next door. How could I get it out safely?
