Edinburgh for son's 14th birthday dinner

We will be visiting Edinburgh from the US in a couple of weeks and our trip coincides with our son's 14th birthday. Can anyone suggest a restaurant that would be memorable for the occasion? Something very unique to the city or especially good food? He has pretty good taste for a teenager so we can certainly be more adventurous than just pizza. TIA.

Restaurant attire

We'll be visiting London, Edinburgh, The Cotswolds and Bath in a few weeks and I was wondering about appropriate restaurant attire. We live in Oregon on the US west coast and there aren't any formal dress codes here, and going to a nicer restaurant means putting on your Patagonia brand fleece instead of your REI brand fleece. What are typical expectations in the UK? We won't be going to any £200pp places but absolute top end would be around £75pp. We're thinking of St. John and a Sunday roast at Blacklock, and also a play in the West End. TIA.

Moppin' Sauce recommendation

Although I haven't made them in a while, I think I do pretty good smoked pork ribs so I agreed to make them for our department's turn to cook for the company. I used to use a moppin' sauce brand called Ghetto Gourmet but it no longer exists. (It isn't the Freddie Lee product.) Is anyone familiar with this product? Can anyone recommend it or something similar? I'd rather buy something than make the sauce but I can do that if needed so I'll take recipes too. Google dug up a produce description for Ghetto Gourmet Moppin' Sauce and it said "It specialized in a thin, acidic Carolina-style barbecue "mop" consistency designed for basings on a smoker." TIA
