For people who joined club track later in high school, did you naturally settle into one event pretty quickly, or did you spend time around different event groups first?

I’m a newer track athlete who started later in high school, and I was curious about what the transition into club track looked like for other people in a similar position. When you first joined a club, did you naturally settle into one event group pretty quickly, or did you spend time around multiple areas of the sport first? I’ve recently gotten interested in track after my first season and noticed I’m drawn to a few different events for different reasons. I’m mainly curious about how other athletes experienced that early stage of figuring out where they fit best within the sport.

Started track jr year and now I'm feeling hooked

Just ran my first ever high school track meet in junior year and ended up enjoying it way more than I expected. I ran 11.8 in the 100m and 25.1 in the 200m. I also come from a volleyball background and have been thinking about trying hurdles too.

Mostly just curious if anyone else here started track later in high school and how the experience went for you. Did you end up sticking with it seriously, or was it more of a one-season thing?
