Yassine Hssine becomes the 20th man under 20 in 2026
This ties 2024 as the most men ever under 20 seconds in the same year.

Purely hypothetical of course. Let’s say you have a fairly good-for-age 12 year old that can run a 30 second 200 and a 6:00 mile. Let’s also say they live in a complete vacuum and the only thing they want to do with their life is break 4:00 in the mile at any point, whether it’s at 18 or 28 years old. If you were their hypothetical coach, would it be more effective to train them like a 400 runner until they break 60, then an 800 runner until they break 2:00, then a miler until they finally break 4:00, or should you just stick with miler training? In my mind, since you’re working with them over many years with one goal while they go through puberty, evolving the training as they develop seems reasonable, but the simple argument of “they’re a miler. Train them like a miler” definitely holds water.
(We got quite desperate for conversation topics on our long run this morning)
Widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in track & field history, Francis guided countless athletes to Olympic and World Championship success, including Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Asafa Powell, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Melaine Walker, Nesta Carter, Shericka Jackson, Brigitte Foster-Hylton, Kishane Thompson, Shericka Williams, Sherone Simpson, Michael Frater, Stephenie Ann McPherson, Germaine Mason, and many more.
Known affectionately as "Franno," he revolutionized Jamaican sprinting, proving that the nation's greatest talents could be developed into global champions at home. His legacy will endure through the generations of athletes he mentored and the lasting impact he had on the sport.
Our deepest condolences go out to Paul Francis, the Francis family, the MVP Track & Field Club family, and everyone whose lives he touched.
@TrackGazette
My city has a proud middle distance/distance running history. Former Olympic champions, world record holders etc. However in the last few years the middle distance/distance running community has imploded. People don’t seem to care about training with other people - they’d rather do their own personalised sessions. Barely anyone new is getting into it. Clubs that once used to be massive barely have anyone turning up to club workouts. No one is interested in socialising outside of the training. The clubs never get any teams in races anymore. Why is everyone so individualistic these days? And how can this be reversed?
Everyone said Keely had a 98.93% chance of winning 😂Odira is the reigning world champ in case you forgot!!

Happy 4th!
Engagement is everything I think having a video brings a lot of attention and awareness to the sport.
Also make the game cheap 19.99-24.99$
As long as the game play is easy and the story mode is detailed u should be able to have a hit
Growing up there was a few track games. Majority were fun but I think it’s the perfect opportunity to reel ppl in
Create a player mode
My career mode
Legends mode
U can recreate legendary raced
Coleman and Mena become the 43rd and 44th athletes already this year to legally break 10 in the 100. That adds to what was already the most individuals ever in a year. Will we make it to 50 guys breaking 10 in a year??
PS we are already at 19 guys under 20 seconds in the 200 this year, which is one short of 2024’s most ever.
What are your goals this week? Could be for a meet or for your training.
The BBC are reporting it starts at 7pm but can't find it anywhere on iPlayer or YouTube! Any help would be great..
Instead of the diamond league having different athletes each meet and most people not doing all 15, the athletes sign contracts to the diamond league and match up every meet. Talented young athletes can start world continental tour challenger and work up there way through bronze, silver, gold, and eventually the diamond league, kinda like the Formula series. This could help increase total fans and viewers as it would be much easier to track what's going on and what are the athlets to look for. But it would be a huge switch for the current fans.
