Question about a friend who might have bedbugs
When I was growing up, i had a best friend who's home isnt in the best condition (her mom hoards cats.) We hung out very frequently for years, and I went to her house many times and she came to mine a lot, sometimes spending weeks at my house and bringing bags of clothes/ belongings.
At one point in 2021, I got bedbugs. My parents were convinced that the bedbugs were from her because of the condition of her house and she had made a comment about bugs at one point a long time prior.
The thing is, I really didnt think they were from her.. because it feels like there would be no way we were hanging out all the time and I didnt get them from her until some random point when she was even coming around a little less at the time. I also was open with her about it because my parents didnt want her coming over anymore and she insisted she didnt have bedbugs and was very upset my parents thought that. I think i might have gotten the bugs from one of the few sketchy packages of clothing i had recieved in the same time frame, or thrifting or something.
We grew apart a bit because of college and recently reconnected, and i went to her house yesterday. I have a crap ton of what i really think are mosquito bites because we were outside in the woods at night for a long time, but my dad asked me when I got home if I checked myself for bedbugs and it has me a little paranoid.
It makes me feel guilty to think she might have them just because of her home conditions.
I wanted to make this post mainly to ask, is it plausible for her to have had bedbugs since 2021 and not know about it? I would assume the infestation would be out of control after that many years. It was a nightmare to get rid of them when i had them, so im always terrified of getting them again. Should I be worried?
