Found in my son’s play mat in his room. Checked the corners of the crib and the recliner and there is nothing there at all
This bug was crawling on my shirt this morning. I provided several different pics to ChatGPT and it insists this is most likely a booklouse and not a bed bug. What do you think?
Friend thinks bed bugs... but i dont see any little black droppings, she also says shes seeing bites on her arms and legs? No new furniture or clothing donations or anything but she has recently gone through a break up and deep cleaning her house and disturbing dust and stuff that had been sitting, any ideas?
Kinda shaken up, it’s my first time dealing with something like this so bear with me lol.
(The title says 30 minutes but I’ve been typing for a hour… yikes😅 so 1 hour and 30 minutes ago)
Any help/advice is appreciated!
I live in a 6 apartment building and I just found this 1 bug at 3am on the living room couch where I happen to be sitting. Google lens says it’s a bedbug.
Context: I’m never in the living room, I moved my mattress out here because I’ve been drowning it in bleach almost everyday of the week (my mattress is white and I split paint on it, bed was/is still a bit wet from the bleach). My room smells like bleach so I was doing another round of bleaching it in the living room with a power wash vacuum this time (I wanted to use the dry setting to get the bleach out faster, don’t ask). In order to bring my bed out I had to move a chair, a box of supplies, and blanket (all stacked on the chair) into the living room. I did 1/4 of the bed went into my room and laid on a sheet on the floor. Came into the living room and decided to bring the sheet and lay on the couch until it’s morning so I don’t wake the neighbors. More than 4 hours go by, and then I see it after coming back from the kitchen with a snack.
I want to figure out what to do and what I might have to get rid of. And a way to ensure I won’t have to get rid of more of my things in the future. I have checked my beds corners and a bit of the inside, I also checked the couch corners, and don’t see anything.
NOT SO FUN FACT: in middle school my cousin had bed bugs and they loved biting me but not him, so I’d like to think that that means there’s not an infection… yet at least…? (That’s me being hopeful as much as possible atp🥲)
Options on where it could’ve came from (honestly just want to see if my room might be the place it came from and how much I’d have to get rid of if it was tbh)
My bed (haven’t slept on in over a week, currently covered in bleach)
Was already on the couch (single seat couch, no one really sits on, they sit on the other couch next to it)
i went over my grandmother’s apartment the same day i bought the comforter (she lives in a bigger apartment building that occasionally has had bugs, i don’t know what kind, I’ve never seen anything besides fruit flies, but she bombs the apartment all the time cause she doesn’t like bugs so idk)
I have a pile of clean clothes in the living room (I moved a coat out the pile onto the couch a few hours before I saw it, also put on a shirt from the pile…)
The sheet that was on the floor in my bedroom, I’ve been sleeping on that sheet since I started bleaching my bed and haven’t been bitten, and I didn’t see it when I was fixing the sheet onto the couch)
Neighbors (l've lived here for 4 years, never seen one til today, all neighbors have been here shorter than me, but still months)
I thrift occasionally and was sitting in my bedroom floor when I recorded a haul (it's been 7 days since I went shopping and the clothes went back into a plastic bag and has been waiting to be washed)
How bad is it, what will I have to check/get rid of, or am I jumping to conclusions?😅
In my room: (I can admit it’s a bit messy at the moment, very cluttered, but not dirty)
•stuffed animals
•blanket collection (I have a shelf full of blankets
•lots of comforters (I like switching my room up so I have spare comforters, one on the floor from where I’ve been sleeping since the bed has been wet)
•pillows (also one on the floor from where I was sleeping)
•clothes (I have 2 dressers full on clothes, and a basket of dirty clothes)
In living room:
•my mattress (do I get rid of it? Too scared to take it back into my room, but if it’s not the issue it might be better to take it back in there faster?? Or just buy a new one, but I don’t want to do that until the issue is solved cause it would just be a waste to keep throwing mattresses away)
•couches
•new Walmart comforter
•spare comforters for guests (it’s been a long time since I’ve had guests)
•removed a light bulb out the lamb and sat it on the couch while bleaching my mattress earlier (might not matter but I’m trying to think of everything)
•powerwash vacuum (haven’t used in a while, but I let the bleach run through the tubes before using it on my mattress to make sure it was clean, sat the handle on that couch when I took that break after I cleaned 1/4 of the mattress)
•clean clothes on the floor (it’s all wrapped in a sheet cause I broke my basket lol, I go through the pile every few days give or take)
• new purses/collection (near the new comforter and older comforters that were washed a while ago but haven’t been used since)
Rooms not included in the list:
•Bathroom
•Kitchen
•parent’s bedroom (sometimes sits on the couch in the living room, but not the couch the bug was found on. Minimalist room, 1 dresser, rest of the clothes/shoes in the closet, and a chair)
Hi, can anyone id if this is a dead bedbug killed by diamatacus earth or a shed skin? Had my apartment professionally treated so I hope it’s one they got
I was laying down for bed on the pull out couch I'm sleeping on, and it was crawling next to me. Somehow I reacted fast enough to trap it in a bag and take pictures of it. Please tell me this isn't a bed bug...I will raise hell if it is.
I just bought this camper off my uncle who had been living in it for a year before. I'm in a semi wooded area with pine trees near the back of my camper, I've been sleeping in here for about a week and haven't seen them before or have any bites or anything.
And I did just clear around this couch, as it's not connected to the wall, and I didn't see anything.
Hi, sorry for the long text. I am very very anxious about bedbugs and obsessively check my hotel rooms. I just checked into a recently renovated hotel, and everything seems new and clean and the mattresses seem brand new. I pulled the sheets off both beds and checked all 4 corners of both, under the duvet, under the sheets, under the mattress cover and all the corners of the mattress, top and bottom, and along the lips of the edges. This is my usual procedure. Everything looks clean and nice to me.
The ONLY thing I’m not sure about is that there are a few rust colored stains on one of the duvet covers. I’ve attached pics. It’s 2 small stains on the top and 2 small on the bottom. I have attached pictures. Is this enough reason to ask to switch rooms? I don’t even know if it’s necessary, I assume it’s actually fine but now I’ve worked myself up with anxiety and wanted to check here. I don’t want to ask them to switch my room for no reason. I’ve been in the room doing my inspection and wiping things down like I usually do for the last hour. I don’t want to sound insane. Would this worry you? I have seen no stains anywhere else on the bedding or mattress, zero bugs or shells. I assume there are many normal reasons for stains such as this, but I figured I would ask here. Bed bugs are basically my biggest fear and I don’t think I could survive them.
I’ve attached photos of the stains and some general sheet and mattress photos to show what I’m looking at.
Thanks for any help in advance!
I was running the lint roller over my matress protector and came across this. I'm not sure if it might be a bed bug help please
My wife and I are staying in a lovely airbnb, and we’ve gotten several bug bites but haven’t actually seen ourselves being bit. This morning we noticed a small smear of blood underneath her but no wound from which the blood could’ve come. Upon further exploration, we found one definite bug dead bug and a couple other maybe-bugs. Our bites don’t really look like the ones that come up on Google (not going to post them here because I know it’s against the sub), but we are still freaking out. Can anyone help identify?
My fiancee ordered a package of clothing that shipped in a paper envelope from China. She opened it on top of a white blanket on our couch, and about ten minutes later noticed this bug on the blanket near where she opened it. She thought it was a tick (we've been in the woods with our dogs within the past few days, but we tick checked the dogs when we got home and found none). She picked it up and said it was very sluggish and seemed half-dead. She squished it and said that some pus-like, vaguely pinkish stuff came out, but no dark brown or bright red blood. From memory, she said the body was more roundish than totally flat like an apple seed, but she's not sure. She thinks she remembers antenna but she's not positive. Thank god she happened to take pictures, they're not very good pictures, but they're all we have because she washed the corpse down the kitchen sink. My fiancee, the packaging, and all the contents of the package stayed sitting on our couch for about an hour and didn't move from there until I got home. I tried on one of the shirts from the package in the living room. She asked me to tick-check her hair but I didn't find anything. Then she showed me the photo, and I said I thought it looked more like a bedbug than a tick. At this point we both freaked the fuck out. We inspected the clothes (2 items) inside and out and didn't find any other bugs, eggs, droppings, or evidence of anything. But I have an INSANE bedbug phobia so we still immediately threw everything in the package, all the clothes we were both wearing, and all bedding/blankets near the couch into a maximum heat hour long wash/dry cycle, threw the packaging away in a tied-shut trash bag in the outside trash can, and then obsessively vacuumed the whole living room. The carpet, every path we walked along during cleanup ie the way to the laundry room, every surface of the couch, under all the cushions, in all the crevices, and underneath the couch as best we could manage. Then I immediately showered. Fiancee emptied the vacuum into a sealed trash bag and threw it away outside.
I'm currently sleeping on that couch (long story), so I slept there again last night and didn't notice any bites when I woke up. I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to everything under the sun so I feel like I'd react if I got bit.
My question is: does this look like a bedbug, or is it a tick or a swallow bug instead? Our mailbox is on our front porch, and there is a bird nest on our front porch about six feet away from the mailbox so that's why I mention swallow bugs. We haven't traveled anywhere recently, or had people over really, or brought any new items into the house. No used furniture, no thrift store clothes, etc. And I've been sleeping on this couch for months and never been bit or seen a bug, and this one showed up at the unboxing location 10mins after the fact so that's why I'm pretty sure it came from the package.
Whatever it is, odds of it coming into our house via a package? If so, odds that it's a lone hitchhiker or that there were more? And if it is a bedbug did I do the right things to try and protect our home right away, or is there more I need to do? Are we just fucked now? I'm scared shitless of these things and I have OCD so I never know if I'm reacting appropriately. We do have variegated carpet beetles by that couch, but this doesn't look like that to me. Please help!
I’ve caught a couple of these very tiny, red bugs on my couch this week. Please tell me it’s just a spider or something!
Turned around to this in bed this morning
I’m pretty sure this is a bedbug…
I’ve been cat sitting for a friend for a few days and twice have seen this kind of bug crawling on my pants while sitting on her couch. I‘m not sure if they were carried in by me or if they were in her house already. I’m going to check in my bed and couch at my apartment for signs of them; if it seems like they aren’t there is there some preventative measures I should be doing? I haven’t experienced any bites to my knowledge.
thank you!
Found this in the bath at my airbnb after a bath (airbnb seems super clean and nice) and my hope is that it is a baby cockroach bc the other two complicate things. If anyone has expertise, extensive experience with this or insight, I would appreciate it so much!
CW: The image has some large unidentified stains that are most likely blood related, bed bugs, desperation
I apologize that this may be the wrong sub but I'm freaking out.
We recently found out we have a bed bug issue that we've been dealing with for almost 9 months. We had just washed our mattress cover and sheets a week ago (before we discovered the bed bugs) and the mattress did not look like this. My husband and I are trans but neither of us get periods, our dog and cat are house trained, our heads aren't level with any of these spots when we sleep so it isn't drool. We're at a loss and don't know what to do and are frankly horrified when we uncovered our mattress to see these stains.
Time frame:
Washed everything, last Tuesday.
Bed Bug discovery, Saturday night.
Bed Bug inspection, Today (Wednesday, May 20th)
EDIT: It can't be coming from us, that would've required it somehow getting through the mattress cover (which is fabric) without staining the cover itself. I think it's coming from inside upward.
sorry for the repost! the images didn’t work last time.
please help!! I’ve never seen a bed bug irl before. Can some one confirm if it is one? i just found it on my backpack while at work and killed it. I’m pretty sure it is a bed bug but would like confirmation if possible
