Looking for moral support + tips for staying on 1200 long term?
As someone who is 4’ 11.5”, my goal weight’s TDEE is approximately 1350 (vs 1440 at current weight).
For me to lose half a lb a week, id need to be around 1200. But it dawned on me that to remain at my ideal weight, Id need to continue eating 1250-1350 the rest of my life (have a strong family hx of diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol).
I usually feel pleasantly full at 1500 cals a day. And on days that I eat out or attend a gathering, that easily goes up to 2000-2500 cal. So if I want to remain at a healthy weight given my height and strong health risk factors, I have to figure out how to remain within 1350 most days.
Growing up Ive always been a chubby kid and this feels demoralizing. Whenever I consciously tried to lose weight, the food noise is constant and I feel peckish at bedtime (seeking comfort food). I joined the VolumeEating group and started looking at my fiber goals this time around.
What are your long term plans for maintenance?
EDIT: I appreciate everyone's responses! I overlooked the value of exercise. I normally believe "abs are made in the kitchen," but in my case, working out 3-5 days a week will make a difference for overall health and long term maintenace. Thank you to those who responded!!
