Crazy guy in Charlotte, MI tries to jump me at the gas station

So I was in Charlotte, MI to pick up a moving truck today. I went to the gas station and pulled in normally. It was a pretty busy gas station.

Well apparently the guy in front of me took that as a personal attack on his wife. As I was finishing pumping gas, the asshole complained about me taking too long after "rushing" his wife. I responded with "ok? So what?". He then lunges at me and tries to punch me through my window. I rolled up my window quickly and got the hell away

Was I in the wrong somehow? Are people just that insane these days?

High Cost of Living Areas aren't worth it for most people

I just don't think that the cost of living in places like Boston and San Francisco are worth it for most people. Yes maybe if you need to be somewhere for your career (like Broadway for theater or DC for politics), but otherwise the amount of amenities in high cost of living cities isn't worth it compared to medium cost of living cities.

For example let's compare Palo Alto to the suburbs of Cincinnati. Both of those areas have similar suburban lifestyles (you will need a car, you have similar strip mall options). But Palo Alto is insanely more expensive than suburban Cincinnati and your salary (while higher) rarely covers the crazy cost of living premium.

Sure I guess if you have a ton of money, you might see some benefits but for a normal person I just don't find places like San Francisco or Boston worth the premium over Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
