was in CAP program but didnt meet requirements by the end thats why I am spring transferring

transferring from Neuroscience at UTSA

Taking psychology heavy coursework (Intro, Social, and Developmental Psych)

So far have 5 As, 2 C+, 4 Bs and 32 transferable credits from UTSA (not including this summer)

3.25 GPA after freshman year and summer courses (42 credit hours from UTSA)

expected a 3.3-3.5 GPA after fall semester

expecting all As summer semester (positive upward trend)

D in one class last summer but failed due to extenuating circumstance and retook for an A

Medical Volunteer Trip Abroad - will write about in my essay

Pre med

Trying to publish research paper in a small journal

Summer medical related job

Good essay and ECs (clubs, volunteer work, shadowing, etc.)

2 LOR (high school principle and doctor I shadowed)

9 AP classes in hs (I dont know how many credits that transfers as)

2 dual enrollment courses (1 A and 1 b )

I was a CAP Student at UTSA, but finished the year with a 3.0 and unfortunately did not meet the CAP Requirement of a 3.2 GPA. I am now looking to transfer from UTSA to UT Austin during the spring, as I have already missed the Fall deadline. I am planning to take 3 summer classes and hopefully boost my gpa to a 3.25 (max) by the end of this summer as my transfer gpa. I was planning to apply for psychology but am worried my gpa is too low/not competitive? Should I apply for health and society instead as my first choice? I have really good ECs and a good essay/resume as well as a valid reason for my bad gpa last year ( I had failed one class due to missing the final for an extenuating circumstance but retook it for an A , but the failed class still weighs into my gpa as well as the retake) Does anyone have any stories or know anyone who transfer into liberal arts with a similar gpa (3.0-3.3) or any advice about what major to pick? I am pre med and very interested in psychology but will do what I can to get into UT Austin.
