Dana 44 rear pinion input shaft play.

Dana 44 rear pinion input shaft play.

I was moving the input spline without the yoke on. The spline moves about 5mm. Is that how I should be inspecting it? I also included a picture of the yoke its self, the scoring goes to about 1mm maybe a little less. Was replacing the pinion seal. All this started with me noticing leaking from the input and when I drive and let off the accelerator to coast, I feel and hear a small bit of vibration from the rear. Am I on the right track here? Or and im gonna be spending money that I dont have to to figure out if these bearing are worn? BTW its a 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited if that helps.

Doing my valve adjustments today, found what seems to be light surface corrosion on top the valve spring cap. Didnt realize that was even possible when it should've been covered by oil the entire time. Is this something to worry about? Doesn't seem to permeate the rest of the cap. And nothing on the bottom of the bucket.

Doing a valve clearance inspection on my 2007 zx6r. Following the service manual, I am aligning the mark on the starter clutch with the line on the screw thread, but I cant seem to get the lobster to point straight up. Granted, in the service manual the picture does show them at a similar angle as you see in the pictures attached, but I thought lobes were supposed to be all the way pointing 180 degrees from the valve bucket? Background, this is my first time ever doing valves on any machine so maybe im missing something obvious. The feeler gage feels snug and smooth as I go inbetween the lobe and valve bucket at this current angle so if the lobe angle is correct then I guess its good? Thanks for any help.
