Why is competitive MC so dead?

The more I talk to people, the more i realise how little people know about the competitive comm, back in like 2014-2018 names like stimpy or minemanner were household names and pretty much everyone knew them

but nowadays if you mention vexaay or hell even janekv, theres a good chance they arent known.

vexaay has montages the same as stimpy did but one has far less reach, im just very curious if its more so the popularisation of scripted content like UU, or something like that. I just don't think we've seen any solely competitive player become mainstream and its kinda saddening and slowly killing the game icl

ive been in the comm for more than a decade at this point and i just wanted to offer some actually hot takes.

  1. vanilla is a very forgiving and by extension, easy gamemode (this also goes for cart and mace)
  2. 1.8 is far harder than 1.9 ever will be
  3. screensharing/pc checking should be far more normalised in modern pvp
  4. closet cheaters are far easier to beat than people say it is
  5. ht3 rubric is far better than elo
  6. shieldless uhc is the best display of skill for modern (this does not mean its the hardest gm)

these are takes that are my opinion, please do not downvote me for such, please keep in mind these are also meant to be hot takes.

also tell me urs

This uhc kit is probably one of the worst things ive EVER SEEN to come out, i played 2 rounds of it, and i actually wanted to cry with this playstyle. you literally play like its axe where you stare at each other for 4 years and whoever disables first gets autohit, then the person who gets the auto hit runs away. like i guess bro.

I think i would be complaining a lot less if natural regen is off, and stuns were on, the kit itself is fine but these settings are atrocious
