Am I normal to put off simple, 5 minute tasks until I can’t put it off anymore longer?
Hi, 35 female, I put off the most simple, 5 minutes tasks until I can’t put them off anymore. For example, I won’t empty the recycling bin, until it’s overflowing and I’m using an additional bag or 2 to hold it. I won’t wash up a plates and cutlery until I have no more to eat from. I won’t make the bed until my partner stays and will notice it’s not made.
These small tasks weigh on my mind to be completed for days/over a week sometimes, but I don’t do them until absolutely necessary. They take 5 minutes to do and I feel much lighter for doing them, but I constantly repeat the same behaviour.
Is this normal? Why do I do it? Is anyone the same? Does anyone have any explanations or advice?
Thanks
