Welsh society in Aberdeen?

Hi everyone!

I've recently moved to Aberdeen with my partner and I was wondering if there was any Welsh society or community here? I'm in my twenties and a native Welsh speaker, missing hearing the language. Feel free to reach out if you want to connect, and/or start something up!

Early 2000s/2010s book about a girl who runs away and pretends to be a boy on a ship

The children's story was under 20 pages in length and was mostly pictures with text underneath, I was quite young when I read it maybe 7-9 at the time (so between 2010 and 2014 when I read it). It may have been part of a primary school (UK) reader/literacy scheme. It was written in English but I vaguely remember it being set in Spain. It was illustrated beautifully, not too cartoony, but not completely realistic. Set in the 1700s, but I could be wrong, it was sometime before the 1800s.

Plot details I remember:
- A teen girl runs away from a convent/orphanage
- She cuts off her brown hair in an alleyway, so she can disguise herself as a boy and stay hidden from the nuns looking for her.
- I vaguely remember her finding her father, who owns a little shop(?), I remember him carrying a lantern. OR this may happen later. I just remember a plot about her wanting to find her father.
- She goes to a ship and joins the crew, diguised as a boy, starting off by scrubbing the decks.

- She gets closer to the captain and he starts getting suspicious of her being a girl(?)
- I remember a scene involving the crow's nest.
- At the end, she goes to a ball with the captain, and she's dressed in a big dress, her hair has grown out a little now, and her and the captain kiss.

I vaguely remember the title being quite long. I've been looking everywhere but haven't been able to find anything! It may have been part of a series of non-related children's illustrated short stories. Does anyone recognise it?
