Book club?

I'm looking to hopefully join a book club here in Aberdeen, or possibly just start one myself. Just to get back into reading, and meet some new people. If anyone knows of any, or wants to join my potential one, let me know!

** Edit** so it looks like there's a few folks interested in starting a book club. For those who are, just DM me, and we can discuss further, and plan something.

Bus lane kings street

Has anyone else had a charge for using the bus lanes when the roadworks were on? There was sign saying not in use and other lane was literally closed but, I’ve had a charge through. Appealed it but they are asking for photo evidence and like, I was driving at time… and they know it was the closed. Am I just going to have to pay? Seems a matter of principe now.

two lost dogs - they are safe

two lost dogs, possibly from old Aberdeen/seaton area but not sure. they ran past me up don street and onto king street and then onto the uni campus. luckily campus security were able to catch both of them but as they had no info on any collars and we didnt know where they came from security have taken them to mrs murray's shelter. thankfully both were unharmed just a bit scared! no clue who they belong to or where exactly they came from though

Car Boot Sales

Been seeing some UK car boot sales popping up in my youtube algo and it looks quite fun.

Is there anyway to reliably get access to these on the regular?

Edit : Hopefully I can address you like this all at once since I appreciated your comments but don't want to spam you each with the exact same response, all thumbsed up regardless.

Looking more to just have a gander and potentially buy, and enjoy a nice walk too. Is there any cool purchases that you guys have found and what is your reasons for going?

Has something happened

I saw this Scottish flag flying at half-mast today. Does anyone know why that might be? This was at Marischal College in Aberdeen if that's relevant.

Co-Working Options

Hi all, long time lurker - previous resident of the Granite City!

I'm coming to visit at the end of this week, and I'm looking for a space to work on Friday. Due to the nature of my work, truly public spaces aren't ideal... So I'm looking for a co-working space, anyone got any recommendations? It's just for a couple of days, Friday and Monday.

Looks like Better Together or Spaces seem like options, if Better Together is actually open!

Thanks

Where can I get up high?

It's not easy to get a good vantage in the city centre. I've been to the art gallery and Torry Battery. I'd appreciate unusual suggestions, not against politely asking businesses or whatever for access (I just want to take photographs). Thanks.

Quiet and/or Private Places to Study or Work?

Hey folks, title says it all really haha

I'm looking for suggestions on places I can go to try and get some peace and quiet to study and get some other work done. I'm doing online courses these days, so I'm not affiliated with the universities or colleges in the city to have full access to their libraries. I'm also quite close to the city centre and don't want to travel too far out if I can get away with it as I would be walking/getting the bus.

I tend to go to central library or Gaelic Lane Cafe, but the charging options are very limited at both, and both tend to be closed by 5pm latest most of the time. Does anyone know if there are rooms I could book for a day at a time that aren't super expensive?

I've tried just staying home, but I work full time so when I'm home I tend to get much more easily distracted. I'm hoping being able to book a room somewhere else will give me a bit more freedom on when I get there and how long I can spend there. Bonus points if they are locations where I can bring/have food and drink so i can maximise my time there.

Thanks for all of your help, everyone!"

Why do all the shops close by 5-6?

Obvious exception is Union Square a bit later but why? Every vibrant city is open until all hours. If we want a city regeneration project why does union st close at 5-6 apart from sketchy vape shops etc?

old bus spotted?

I just seen one of the old buses drive past me on Holburn Street. It was exactly like one in the attached picture, but it had the number 4 to Sea Beach. Does anyone know what this is for?

Anyone in Aberdeen had physiotherapy recently? What was your experience like after the appointment?

I’m particularly curious about what happens between appointments, rather than whether the physiotherapist themselves was good or bad.

For example:

Were you given exercises to do at home, and did you actually keep doing them?

Was it always clear whether you were doing the exercises correctly?

Did you ever stop because of pain, lack of motivation, or worrying that you might make the injury worse?

How easy was it to understand whether you were actually improving?

Did your physio check in with you between appointments?

Did you use an app, videos, printed instructions, or just try to remember what you were shown?

What was the most frustrating part of the recovery process?

If you could change one thing about the experience between physio appointments, what would it be?

Vulnerable Missing Person

Kofi is a former pupil of mine, he is around 6’1, incredibly friendly and social, speaks with a high pitched voice. The photo shows the outfit he was wearing today. He left home this morning, was seen on braehead cctv this afternoon and potentially sighted in the castlemilk area around 4pm.
Please if anyone sees Kofi check if he is ok, and call 101 with the reference number in the photo.

Please share far and wide
Thank you
