What is the corporate world like?

I've done 2 internships in corporate. The first one was in the middle-east, and the second in south-east asia.

In the first one, I had such an amazing time - the working conditions were great. My boss and coworkers were super friendly, which made me actually feel like I was part of a "family". People would chat and laughter was common. Working hours were flexible, people would come an hour late and would leave as soon as their work is done (even at 3:30 when office closes at 5). My coworker will freely play mobile games when he has no work. We also had weekly extravegant buffets. Overall, people were genuinely happy and content, and so was I.

In the second one, it was a complete 180. The culture was monotonous; there was no chatter and it was complete silence, except for work-related discussions. Honestly, I was miserable because the environment was so robotic. Working hours was a strict 8:30-5, no flexibility. Playing on your phone is a definite no. I even got reprimanded for going to the bathroom too much. My boss was also strict - would yell at people that they "have no brain".

The thing is, the first company was an MNC - way bigger than the second one.

Now, I'm wondering whether most corporate jobs are like the first or second one, or if I was just lucky with the first. Hit me with a dose of reality please. And if the monotonous culture is common, how do I find a good culture to work in?

TLDR; My first internship had amazing working conditions, second one was hell. What is the corporate world like generally? And how to find companies with good culture?
