Need advice!!

Last Saturday (8/8) I visited an urgent care after experiencing two weeks of functional constipation. They did an xray and found a “moderate to large” stool burden. The doctor recommended miralax that day and the next, and a fleet enema. The first enema produced a small volume of liquid stool, and the second produced a larger volume of liquid stool. Nothing solid, and not all that significant in volume. I stopped the miralax after, as recommended by a nurses’ line.

That Monday-now, I’ve followed a low residue diet (rice pasta, white rice, rice chex, plain tofu, “JUST egg,” plain cheerios, sugar popsicles). This was also suggested by the nurses’ line. On Monday, I had no bowel movements. I called the urgent care doctor, who recommended a fiber supplement and high fiber intake immediately. At this point I was still feeling very full and bloated. I did not follow his recommendation. He seemed rushed and to have not cared.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I had bowel movements after my morning black coffee. They were small, fragmented pieces of stool. On the softer side. Small in size. On Thursday, I passed a small dense piece. Very dense. Immediately following, I passed a pile of thick dense liquid “muddy” stool. Not a ton, but a significant amount.

On Friday & Saturday, I passed very dense solid pieces of stool twice a day. They were SMALL. And hard to pass—lots of straining. On Sunday, nothing. So I contacted an urgent care telehealth doc. He recxomended fruits & veggies—specifically spinach and prunes. And to start up the Miralax, which I did.

What should I do? I’m nervous to add fruits & veggies because it appears I have a blockage of hard stool, presumably from the burden. I was on low residue to not add to the burden. I’m conflicted!!! Please help!!!!
