PIP help please!

I’m in the process of PIP currently but I’m a little confused so any insight would be a great help.

I called the PIP phone line on the 9th March and was able to fill in forms same day online.
Last week, PIP rang me and asked a few questions (no assessment had been booked, they just rang out of the blue), it was around 25 minutes in total.
She said there is no need for a full assessment and I basically had a partial one there and then, but I thought that assessments were booked in advance?
Has this happened to anyone else? What is this likely to mean? This is all new to me so any information would be great!

LCWRA help!

This page has helped me a lot in my LCWRA journey so I’m sharing my experience in the hope that it could help someone else.

My assessment provider is SERCO and I first started submitting fit notes on 28th October 2025.
I’ve had severe anxiety and depression since 2017 and I’ve also SH and OD in the past. I’m also on 40mg propranolol daily and venlafaxine (previously been on sertraline, citalopram, fluoxetine). My work coach actually wanted me to start this health journey as she said I’m not fit for work.

I had my assessment on the 6th May 2026 and received a decision today (18th May).
This is where I need advice please! I had a message on my journal at 10:36am to say that I’ve had a decision and they’d awarded me LCWRA- the relief I felt was unbelievable as I’d finally felt a huge weight off of my shoulders. By 10:45am, I had another message saying I should ignore the previous message and there had been an error and I’ve actually been awarded LCW. I’ve been in bits all day. I truly thought I would be put under ‘substantial risk’.
I asked for a copy of the report straight away and then asked for a MR. I’m yet to see the report from my assessor but I’m curious to know if anyone else has been in a similar position and won at MR or if it’s likely I’ll have to go through a tribunal?
