PGWP Reconsideration Approved w/ Timeline
Hi y'all! Hope everyone is doing well. I made a promise to myself if my PGWP reconsideration is approved, I am going to make a post here and share my experience with everyone.
Dec. 2025: Submitted the application and got the WP-EXT.
Apr. 11 2026: Got my PGWP application refused. ODN showed that I did not have the English proficiency test. Just like those who got their PGWP application denied, I was stressed because I had to quit my only job immediately.
Apr. 12 2026: Submitted my CELPIP test result. I have had it 6 months prior to my graduation, but it was an honest mistake and I did not remember to submit it since the only place to include the test result was under "optional documents."
Apr. 17 2026: Contacted IRCC, and they confirmed the documents have been received and forwarded it to the officer. My case was process by the Edmonton office btw.
Apr. 28 2026: Contacted my local MP for assistant.
Apr. 29 2026: Got a respond from one of the case workers, and she requested for the missing document, consent form, and a brief description of the situation.
May. 5 2026: Contacted the IRCC again, and pretty much was told to wait for a few more weeks. The agent also suggested that I file for restoration.
May. 6 2026: Case worker confirmed that she received all the documents and will keep me updated once she has spoken with IRCC, but I have not heard back from her since then.
May. 12 2026: Got an email saying that there has been an update on my application. I checked and the status finally showed from refused to in-progress again.
May. 13 2026: I did not receive any further updates, but I just wanted to login to see if there has been any updates. To my surprise, the officer has already approved my application, and I got a 3 year WP.
This is just the timeline for me, and it has been a very stressful month. That said, I still remain thankful and only God knows how stressful this journey has been. Also, thank you to those who have posted your experience here and some words of encouragement, they really helped a lot. If you are in the same or similar situation as me, please don't give up or lose hope, and have some faith.
And to those who are going to apply for PGWP, please remember to upload your official English/French score under "optional documents" and I strongly suggest to have your personal checklist to avoid this kinda unnecessary issue.
Good luck to y'all!
