Work after pgwp reapplication

Hello everyone,

I applied for pgwp in February 2026, I got refused in May 2026. I submitted a reconsideration and then reapplied again in June 2026. After my refusal, I immediately stopped working. Following my reapplication I got a confirmation saying I could work until December 2026. I didn’t start working because I was unsure of the rules guiding that. I called IRCC to confirm, I explained the situation and the agent stated that given the fact that I reapplied within 180 days of completing my program and that my study permit is still valid, I could resume working.
I am still not fully convinced that is the case… which is why I am asking on here.
Any advice?

Study permit extension or PGWP application?

So my study permits is expiring March 20, 2027, my last program and last semester is December 2026, which I will be finishing school.
Someone told me that I need to apply for a study permit extension before I can apply for a PGWP but I do know that I have 90 days till my permit expires and should still be in the time limit to apply for my PGWP. Was there any new update updates that might not be known very well?

Hi guys ,

Here is my story of pgwp refusal+reconsideration refusal

I applied for work permit November 2025
Refusal : April
Reason of refusal : language test is missing ( it believed I submitted it but it is not uploaded cause I called Irrcc after the refusal and confirmed that it is not the file.
Reconsideration: may 2026
Refusal: June 27
Here is joined here the officer refusal letter.

This letter is in response to your request for reconsideration of your application number……

After considering your request for reconsideration and based on the information provided, I have determined that there are not sufficient grounds to justify reconsidering the decision. After reviewing the additional submissions, the original decision regarding your application remains unchanged.

For Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, applicants must demonstrate that they have achieved the minimum Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) level in English or French for each of the four language abilities, as follows:

* A minimum level of CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French is required for:
* all graduates of degree programs (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees);
* graduates of university programs that do not lead to a degree (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate).
* A minimum level of CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French is required for:
* graduates of any other college program or non-university program that does not lead to a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree.

Based on the information you provided, it has been determined that you do not meet the required language criteria. Your application is therefore refused.

If you have different or additional information, you may submit a new application, including the applicable fees.

Processing time for pgwp extension due to passport expiry

How long is the current processing time for pgwp extension applications due to passport expiry? Anyone who recently submitted received them faster? Or is it still taking 4-5 months?

Anyone had their PGWP reconsideration go back to “Processing”? How long did it take?

Hi everyone,
I’m really hoping someone who’s been through this can share their experience.
My PGWP application was refused on April 8, 2026. I requested reconsideration, and on June 3, 2026, my application status changed back to “Processing.” It’s now been about a month, and I still haven’t received a final decision.

To be honest, I’m under a lot of pressure. This whole situation has been incredibly stressful. I’ve burned through almost all of my savings, I’m worried about paying my bills, and every day of waiting makes me more anxious. I’m honestly scared about what will happen if things don’t work out.
If anyone has had their PGWP reconsideration reopened after a refusal:
How long did it take after your file went back to “Processing”?

I’d really appreciate hearing your timeline or any advice. Thank you so much.

Spousal Post Graduate Work Permit

I recently got an offer for a Food Service Supervisor . I am unsure whether a Food Service Supervisor role (NOC 62020) is actually included in the current IRCC eligible occupations list for spouses of PGWP holders.

Because that will determine whether starting that job would support my husband’s SOWP extension application or I need to focus on finding a different qualifying occupation instead. I will appreciate your advice.

PGWP Rejection & Reconsideration

Well hello, my fellow international student community.

I thought I would hop on here and share a bit of what I have been going through with the immigration process lately. I am also hoping to hear from others who may be in a similar situation, or from anyone who has advice, perspective, or just wants to commiserate!!

I applied for my PGWP in June 2025 after completing my degree and IELTS. On March 4, 2026, I received a refusal from IRCC because they said I had not uploaded my IELTS results.

Now look; I know there have been a lot of posts and comments saying that it is the applicant’s responsibility to know that the IELTS results should be uploaded under the “additional information” section. I really do understand that perspective, but honestly, I still disagree with how unclear the process has been.

I have done a lot of thinking about this, and I do think IRCC has a responsibility to make instructions clear, especially when a document is not actually optional. If language results are mandatory, there should be a clear and specific upload space for them.

But I digress.

I submitted a reconsideration request the very next day, on March 5, 2026. In that request, I also pointed out another issue: the refusal letter/notes seemed to reference a completely different university and program than the one I attended.

Since then, things have been really difficult. I applied for restoration of status, lost the job I had for two years, had to give up my apartment, and moved in with a friend. It has been a lot to process, especially after doing everything I could to stay on top of my application and follow the rules.

Tough times, but nothing immigrants have not faced a billion times over.

It has now been about a year since I applied for my original PGWP, and around four months since I submitted my reconsideration request. The waiting, uncertainty, and lack of clear communication have honestly been exhausting.

I mainly wanted to come on here to share my experience and say that this process can be incredibly frustrating and isolating. I would really love to hear from others who are still waiting, dealing with reconsideration, restoration, or just trying to stay afloat through all of this.

How are you all coping? How are you passing the time? How are you doing mentally while waiting?

Would love to connect with folks in the same boat.

Restoration of status refused

I applied for a PGWP which was refused due to part-time semesters and then I applied for a restoration of status to a study permit about 15 days after my refusal date because I got admission to a college. IRCC then refused both of my restoration of status and study permit. The reason IRCC gave was a complete miscalculation of when my restoration of status was supposed to be be done (the officer said i should have restored my status last year but i had put in my PGWP application so I obviously couldn’t. I was on maintained status).
My immigration consultant has submitted a reconsideration explaining the mistake IRCC made. My 90 days restoration of status ends July 7.
My question now is what do I do? Do I leave Canada or do I wait for a response on my reconsideration?
I do have a 10 year V-1 from when i renewed my study permit.

PGWP reconsideration

My application was rejected on May 8th, I applied for reconsideration the same day, my application was re-opened May 22, but I still have no update. My MP stopped answering me as well. Do you guys think applying for restoration would help? I am not eligible to apply for a new pgwp anymore.:")

PGWP Remarks/Observations

I applied for a PGWP and just got it but in the remarks/observations section it just says “Status maintained as per R183(5).” It doesn’t say anything about post-grad employment. Is this normal?

PGWP reconsideration Timeline

Hi everyone,

I want to share my journey

My Timeline:

•	February 10, 2026 — Applied for PGWP
•	April 17, 2026 — Refused(missing IELTS)
•	April 18, 2026 — Filed reconsideration
•	May 11, 2026 — Also filed Restoration + new PGWP as backup
•	Contacted MP offices
•	July 2, 2026 — Status changed from Refused to Submitted
•	July 3, 2026 — APPROVED ✅

What helped me:
• Filing reconsideration immediately with strong evidence
• Contacting MP offices — they followed up multiple times
• Filing restoration as a safety net
• Never giving up — even when it felt impossible

Pro Tip: Apply Restoration because they don’t really see reconsideration I first got update on new pgwp + restoration then on my initial application.

To everyone still waiting — please don’t lose hope. It feels like forever, but your approval is coming. Keep following up, contact your MP, file restoration if you haven’t already.
Do your prayers. Stay patient. It WILL happen.
Sending prayers and positive energy to everyone still waiting. You’ve got this! 🙏🇨🇦

OHIP eligibility for part-time worker in Ontario?

Hey, I'm working about 30 hours a week in Ontario with a valid work permit. I keep seeing different info about OHIP—some say you need to work full-time, others don't mention it.

Does anyone know if part-time work still counts, or has anyone here gotten OHIP with a similar situation?

Experience with Work Permit Application After 180 Days During Reconsideration?

Has anyone applied for a work permit after the 180 days while their reconsideration was still pending? What was the outcome? Was your application accepted, refused, or did IRCC provide any flexibility?
