I'm looking to connect with people who have experienced a similar situation with their Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), particularly those whose applications were refused because of the language proficiency requirement and who subsequently submitted a reconsideration request.

Here is my situation:

• I applied for my PGWP on May 30, 2025.
• After waiting a lengthy period, my application was refused on May 15, 2026.
• The refusal was related to the language requirement applicable to my studies. I had submitted a language test result equivalent to CLB 5, but the refusal indicated that CLB 7 was required for my circumstances.
• My previous representative did not advise me about the applicable CLB 7 requirement before proceeding with my application. At the time, I was not aware that my educational background could affect the required language level.
• After the refusal, I sought professional assistance and submitted a reconsideration request to IRCC on August 14, 2026, along with supporting documents.
• My authorized representative later confirmed that the reconsideration request had been forwarded to the responsible office for consideration.

As of now, I'm still waiting for a response, and the uncertainty has been very difficult.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar:

Did anyone receive a positive decision after requesting reconsideration in a similar situation?

I’m currently a full-time student and started my first part-time job this July. Since this was my first time working while studying, I honestly didn’t fully understand the restrictions on how many hours I was allowed to work. I know I should have checked the rules beforehand, and that was my mistake, but I’m hoping to get some advice from people who may have been in a similar situation.

My workplace pays employees bi-weekly, and our payslips show the total hours worked during the pay period, along with separate entries for things like premiums and overtime.

When I first started working, a co-worker told me that because we are paid bi-weekly, I could work up to 48 hours per pay period and that it didn’t matter how the hours were distributed between the two weeks, as long as I stayed under 48 hours.

I now realise that may not be how the IRCC 24-hour-per-week rule works.

I checked my first payslip and it shows 49.25 hours for the two-week pay period. I normally work 7.5 hours per shift, but during this period I had to stay late a few times because we were short-staffed and my replacement did not arrive on time. Those additional hours were recorded as overtime on my payslip.

I’m worried because this was my first pay period after starting the job, and I didn’t understand the rules at the time.

For context, I am not intentionally working more than 24 hours per week now, and I have been avoiding taking overtime because I’m worried about exceeding the limit.

Has anyone been in a similar situation where they accidentally worked additional hours/overtime while studying? Did it cause any issues with your PGWP application?

I applied for pgwp on sep 8th. I want to go to my home country as I recently had a baby. I waited almost a month to get decision..still dint get..My visa stamp on passport valid till April 2027. I am planning to go for a month. Can I go and comeback on applied status?

Does the IRCC cross check CRA when i apply for PGWP or are they different departments

I am currently on my work permit which is due to expires in around Jan. I got this document which expired early because of my passport expiring early. I have already gotten my passport renewed, and have submitted my documents through mail for my work permint extension. But it has been months since I got an update. I have filled out the web form for an enquiry - got a response saying they are processing the application but they did not provide me with any further details regarding application. Just said they are processing it which seemed to like a generic response.

Hey guys so mine and my wife’s work permit was expiring on 5th June 2026 and before it got expired my wife applied for study permit and eventually got refusal due to financials reasoning. On the basis of her study permit application I had applied for wp-ext which got rejected on 19 August 2026 ( I am the primary applicant my wife was on sowp) I haven’t tried to restore the status after that . 01 OCT I recived ITA under trades draw. So will I be eligible to restore my status as worker and apply bowp after I submit my PR application?

Anyone who has been in similar situation please help me!!

Timeline:

My PGWP expired on August 11, 2026.
Applied for PGWP extension August 10,2026
ITA : August 17,2026.
AOR: August 19, 2026.
Submitted webform to convert Pgwp extension to Bowp on August 19th,2026.
BIL + Medicals Passed : Sept 2,2026
Final Decision: September 29, 2026
BOWP Approved: October 2, 2026.

I applied for a “ pgwp extension “ because when my WP expired, I had submitted my PNP application already. I knew I would get a nomination soon and eventually get an ITA. I included a LOE in my extension application letting the officer know I will be nominated soon.

Do your own research. Every situation is different. Good luck to anyone waiting on a BOWP approval . God is good !!!
