Hi orchid lovers,

I recently joined this sub and noticed that there wasn't anything posted about the last World Orchid Conference. - Just wanted to share some impressions.

Admittedly, I only had to travel about 3.5 hours, but I'm actually considering going again, because it was a great experience! Just sooo many lovely people, so many absolutely gorgeous plants. The sales hall was packed at all times, but with a lovely crowd full of people looking out for each other. All of the talks we caught were interesting and enthusiastically presented, and it would be great to see another local flair added to the evening programme. - The next one will be in Japan in 2029, so there's some time to plan and save for the next big haul. 😅

Some sarcochilus in bloom

S. Sweetheart "No. 1" x Rachael "Desire"

S. Rosella "Spotty" x Kulnura Smoothie "Tip"

S. (Kulnura High "Golden Egg" x Madge "Free" ) "Sunnyside"

S. Kulnura Opus x Kulnura Ultimate

A pic of my summer setup (shade tent with trays of expanded clay pearls to create a humid environment). - There's a few more plants in there now, I was / am keeping the ones in bloom inside because slugs be slugging.

They are somewhat hard to get here in Germany and I'm struggling to get them to bloom, but it turns out I kept them too warm over the winter and I'm determined to do better next year. Luckily I got a pretty good haul from WOC in March.
