My mum's monstrous orchid!

She's had this orchid for more than 7 years now and somehow, despite all the damage she has received, she's still going strong with beautiful flowers! This orchid has taken many falls in her life and yet still has the richest set of flowers. My orchid is definitely nothing compared to this monster!! :D

Psychopsis papilio blooms!

This one bloomed this morning, and it is sooooo beautiful, I can't even use a word to express. Even beautiful is kinda vain here.

It is an awesome oncidium to grow, cause it blooms literally ALL YEAR! The spike of it continues to bloom flower after flower, and continues for decades in some occasion. So never cut the spike.

Nice temperature tolerance, easy to grow, and grows fast. I hope she like being in my place and forms more spike for me.

A large one could have 3-5 spike in bloom at the same time.

Flower drop or dying

So guys since this is my first time overcourse you know I gotta over think this. Is this just flower dropping or dying? I've noticed some of the buds never tried to open except for the one on the left. I water it before work and when I got back the ones that were open wilted but the one trying to open, opened more. Ive noticed some of the buds also have slight buds blast so any tips for that is recommended.

Identify this orchid

Google is giving mixed results and I don’t trust any of those identification apps. If you know what this is I’d love to know too please. I rescued it from a friend about six months to a year ago who said it was half dead and didn’t think it would survive, I was determined I could get it back and now it has its first flowers since I’ve had it. All I know is I believe it’s a Cattleya but I’m not sure of that either

Super rare orchid: Treenum frogriana

Seeing people nowadays like to talk about rarity, I present the super rare species: Treenum frogriana fm. emerald green.

This particular species combines the looks of an orchid with the functions of a carnivorous plant: it eats bugs! It’s so rare you can’t even mericlone it.

first time orchid parent

hello all! i recently got this orchid as a gift and while its gorgeous, im a little intimidated haha. i’ve heard that orchids are notoriously difficult plants and i’m not one to keep flowering plants alive (i’m more of a pothos type of person.) however i would really like to keep this one from dying :)

i read about 3/oz of warm water or to let sit in a bowl of warm water for 10 minutes weekly or as the base dries out. my orchid is in more of a barky-type of base and i had her sit in water today because it was dried out, as far as i could tell.

i guess my questions are pretty simple, beginner questions. she’s in indirect lighting at the moment. when do i know to repot her? and is there a preference on bark vs soil?

thanks so much in advance! I’m excited to begin my orchid journey :)

Paphiopedilum venustum

I got this bare root Paph. venustum from Ecuagenera at an orchid show back in January. It’s taken quite well to its new pot and media! It already has two new growths at the base, as well as blooming right now!!

Divide and Conquer?

She got a good, long soak, so a good portion of the roots are green now. I don't know if I should try to divide this or keep it as is. I've never tried to separate an Orchid and kind of at a loss as to what I should do. Her bloom fell off about a week ago. I know I need to clean up some of the roots, but after that, I'm lost. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm headed to bed, so I'll respond to any questions in the morning.

GIANT *SS STANHOPEA

Moved her outside to get some much needed humidity and get rid off straggler spider mites after having a rough winter. Hoping she bounces back, but if she keeps growing like this, I dunno where she’ll live lol. I got her as a 3 bulb plant a couple of years ago, she is now in a 14” basket. I had to install a ceiling hook for her in my house 😑
