Vandachostylis Ploenpit Blue

This is a cross of V. Tristar Blue x Van. Sasicha. Plant is easy to grow and the 2.5” flowers are lightly fragrant. Very high filtered light is necessary. It grows without any medium in a plastic vanda basket draped with Spanish moss. I hang this plant in the rafters of my greenhouse (zone 8a), with temperatures ranging from 55°-110°F, and an average humidity of 80%. It’s fertilized with Osmocote, which hangs above the plant in a mesh bag, at every watering.

Nothing beats fragrant, well-held, thick flowers. And this Cattleya isn’t afraid to show it all off. Greenhouse grown in zone 7b.

Cattleya’s are the reason why I fell in love with orchids. And every single time one blooms for me I’m reminded why. The show just gets better and better every year!

Betta Imbellis

Anyone else here keep wild types? Here is my Imbellis, Frodo. After being unable to find one locally I purchased him online. I was nervous getting a fish in the mail, but he made it and is healthy and active.

Any idea what these are?

Newly planted 10 gallon tank that’s been cycling since 5/12/26. Current parameters are 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrites, <5ppm nitrates. The tank has a mystery snail, I believe a bladder snail, and some cherry shrimp in it.

I’ve just noticed these small round translucent things on the leaf and stem of this plant and I believe the same thing on some of the glass. Any idea what it could be?

Am I cycled?

Trying to help my son setup a 10 gallon tank for a betta fish. We’ve been doing a fish-less cycle using Dr. Tim’s ammonium chloride and Fritz Turbo Start 700, and have been testing daily with the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. According to our levels, would you say the tank is cycled? We’re looking to add a snail and a few shrimp before eventually adding the betta.

New Tank

My son has been wanting a fish for a while now and this year for his birthday we decided to get him a setup to eventually get a betta fish. Thanks to this sub, we’ve gotten this far. We’re currently on day 5 of cycling, and my son is loving the nightly testing with the API Master Test kit. Is there anything in the tank that I should reconsider or change or add before we get his fish?
