Is this flower fine?
I saw this flower yesterday, today it "rose". I noticed that there's a part without the white stuff, so I wondered if that's normal. (Sorry if the picture is blurry).
Thanks, God bless!

Hey guys, I have a 20 gallon planted guppy/ramshorn snail tank. It's pretty well established (2.5 years old) and I was planning on adding a pothos to the top to root into the tank water and all that, but I was just gifted a small mint plant from a friend....
Would I be able to clean the roots of a mint plant instead and add it to my tank in place of the pothos? I've had a hard time finding answers to this question on reddit/ google tbh lol. Everyone has basically said Yes, but I've not been given specific instructions.
Has anyone else tried to propagate and root a mint plant in their aquarium? Like leafs above the water, and a root system in the water and/or soil?
If you have are their specific instructions for a mint plant you can provide?
Ty!!!!
This is my first successful tank. It is 2 months old. It is 65 litres waltsad method tank. It has vallisneria, small amazon sword and many water wisteria. It has a hang on back filter with custom sponge and activated carbon filtration. I removed the in built cartridges. I keep light on for 6-7 hours daily.
In past i have tried this hobby and had glass aquarium but It didn't work, they failed multiple times and it was very expensive for me to get all that aqua soil, plants and medicine and fertilizer. I gave up but then I thought let's give it a one more try and this time let's do in a container rather than buy expensive glass aquarium and this time it worked.
I have hb guppies and 1 cobra skin guppy. All are male. And I have put in 4 trumpet snails too. I will add some red dumbo ear female guppy later. Because I want to create new strain. It's an idea I got after I saw YouTube videos. I thought I want to try this and so I will.
As you can see i haven't wipe out the walls. Because I notice my guppies eat the stuff on wall. I feed my guppies 2 times a day. In morning I feed guppy bites. And in night i feed freeze dried blood worms.
Thankyou
( English is not my first language)
I’ve seen several people in this sub struggling with the patience aspect; it’s hard. It’s honestly like watching paint dry if you’re looking for plants to grow but just enjoy the beauty of it all. You’re making an ecosystem, they take years to happen naturally. Just enjoy the process. 2 months apart and always looking for advice.
Showcasing my newly set up 40 gallon Bucephalandra collection tank, which houses 64 species with ID and about 10 rhizomes with no ID. I'd estimate to have 150-200 rhizomes currently in the tank. They are still recovering from the change in water parameters from my old farm setup, but the new leaves sprouting up are looking really good as far as desired color and leaf form go.
Setup details:
Landen 90p (44 gallon) 36"x18"x18"
Netlea AT5 ran for 8hrs a day
Netlea pro soil capped with Samurai Soil
2 Oase Biomaster 350s on either side of the tank
No water column dosing of ferts (fresh soil)
Co2 injection 35ppm ran 24/7
Colony of CRS
pH 6.2
gH 6
kH <1
TDS ~150s
I have quite an interesting collection, most are special "collectors" species, but I do have a handful of Indonesian species that I am transitioning to submerged form, and I only keep the most colorful varieties. I have spent an endless amount of time networking to curate species from all over Asia, including incredibly rare varieties that only come from China. The Chinese variants are the prized pieces of my collection, due to the difficulty sourcing them in the US.
I'm still working on balancing the tank, which can be quite difficult in a Bucep only setup. I'll definitely be posting more photos once more new leaves emerge and I trim away the old, green growth.
If anyone has any questions about what species I have or additional information on my setup, feel free to ask!
This one just kinda sits there. Has two small sponge filters. As far as fish there's one sparkling gourami, 1 or 2 random pencil fish that got caught in a net when I first moved gourami, about 6 or 7 khuli/dwarf chain loaches, a billion shrimp, a ton of assassin snails, and scuds by accident-ish.
Thought I'd share my little jar of wonder with you guys.
Here I have a jar that really has surprised me.
I started off with a betta fish in here. But after receiving a ton of hate and angry criticism from the betta community...i considered their comments and moved him to a bigger area. Wasn't not purposely trying to suffer him in a small space....
The jar however...being just the right size for my desk, kept its place.
I went on to planting a few plants: guppy grass, ludwigia(i assume) and a third short dwafted grass-like plant that i cant seem to remember.
In it I presently have a ton of rams horn snails( they multiplied quite quickly after i increased food for a week)
2 local guppies( they were babies when I added them to my experimental jar...now they are fully grown and quite fun to look at. They are less than an inch long (Trinidadian guppy)
Presently my jar is about 4 months old...from the start I had no deaths and I haven't changed water ever...i have topped it up 4 times so far.
There is no pump. No filter. Nothing mechanical.
Sand is my only substrate...
I am new to this but I am a bit knowledgeable.
My dwarf grass like plant hasn't been growing much...it was melting alot at first but now that I think of it I havent seen it melted
However it hasn't multiplied either.
I wondering if it's lacking nutrients?
I had recently soldered up some led lights from an old led bulb and made it into a mini lamp powered by a phone charger to see if it'll help with plant growth.
Where it sits on my desk it don't get direct sunlight.
One thing I forgot to do (or More so didn't do because i learned about a little late) was adding soil at the base followed by the sand.
Please drop some advice on how can I better the environment
I feel like i got lucky here...
I also would like advice on how to grow ducweed and water sprite...two things I haven't seem to have luck with.
I have a small tank with cherry shrimp, several different fauna, and some snails, and despite several water changes, usage of AccuClear, it always ends up getting cloudy. What am I missing?
Update on my tank, still not on its final form, a great learning journey i just learned the growth rate of my plants and i am waiting a few days for meta in the background to reach the height I intended. Also they grow way faster then I anticipated.
Just wanted to share my new tanks progress. Started with a 40 day dry start. Tank somehow cycled in three days after flooding (I tested a for a few more days after the third day before adding Neon Tetras yesterday). Very smooth so far! Some algae on the glass that's been easy to clean (hitchhiker bladder snails have helped). It's really been a dream to put this together and the results have been awesome I think! Feel free to ask me anything and let me know any recommendations! Everything has been almost too easy, so I'm happy to get any feedback!
ohhh my god it's my first time I'm so excited
I have extra Amazon frogbit and water lettuce available and would love to share it with fellow aquarium hobbyists!

I’d much rather see these floating in someone’s fish tank than end up in the compost. Happy fishkeeping!
I had a hair algae outbreak. It sucked. I pulled all my plants and sprayed them with a hydrogen peroxide/water mix, intending to rinse them after ten minutes or so. Well, I got distracted and forgot. 45 minutes later, my African Onion was burnt to Hell. I trimmed the damaged leaves, and it seems to be healthy, but it hasn’t grown AT ALL. It’s been a few months. All my other plants are doing well. Thoughts?
My rotala plants thinned out a lot this past week and I don't know why. They're in a 55 gallon walstad tank with good lighting and the rest of the plants are doing great. The rotala keeps shedding its bottom leaves but is actively showing new growth. I put the rotala in the tank about a month ago.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thought I'd share my first every Shallow aquarium, its an Aquaone Optiscape 60 so 60cm x 40w x 30h.
Really enjoyed the extra depth and lower height for scaping this one plus the overall way it looks. Not yet ready for fish I'm about 7/8 into a cycle using matured sponges from another tank but showing some Nitrites still on API test kit.
I'm looking to put Ruby Tetra and further down the line I'd like to add in cherry shrimp once its more seasoned.
Already looking at getting another shallow style tank for elsewhere in the house.
First time doing this large of a trim since this tank was planted in late January. May have trimmed too much
Hi guys this is my first time posting on Reddit as I’m usually just a lurker, however I keep feeling like I need to add more plants to my tank and constantly make it better. I also keep going back and forth on so many stocking ideas for this 29 gallon and it’s 5 months old
I do struggle with anxiety and stuff so I know there isn’t an aquatic fix for that, but I really want suggestions that are cost effective that will make this tank seem more complete. Or do I just need to keep waiting for things to grow? Any tips for making things grow etc. I’ve also been struggling with my floating plants. I feel like they just keep the same population and do not really grow. Is that cuz I don’t have fish making extra waste? I did buy shrimp safe liq fertilizer so hoping that will help
Also I’m totally open to stocking ideas as right now I have a colony of cherry shrimp breeding away and 3 mystery snails.
Edit: spelling
