How to find the PS5 "Safety" information?

I keep seeing references to the PS5 “Safety Guide” whenever people talk about setup issues, warranty stuff, overheating warnings, or even weird controller battery questions, but it’s surprisingly hard to figure out where Sony actually keeps this information.

Some people say it comes in the box, others mention a digital version hidden somewhere in the settings menu, and a few posts I found point to random PDFs that may or may not even be current anymore. It feels like one of those things everyone assumes is obvious until you actually need it.

I’m asking because I recently moved my setup around and started paying more attention to ventilation and power recommendations for the console. I wanted to double-check the official safety instructions instead of relying on YouTube comments or random blogs, but I honestly couldn’t find a clear answer.

Is there an official page or section on the PS5 where all the safety information is stored? And does Sony update it over time, or is it just the same booklet that ships with the console?

Would appreciate any pointers from people who’ve dealt with this before.

How to fix PS5 controller "Rumble" issues?

Been seeing more posts lately about DualSense vibration/haptic feedback issues, especially after updates or long gaming sessions, and it made me wonder how common this actually is. The weird thing is that some people say the rumble comes back temporarily after resetting the controller, while others end up needing repairs.

Mine started acting up a few days ago while playing Spider-Man 2. The adaptive triggers still work fine, but the actual rumble/vibration feels either super weak or completely dead depending on the game. I already checked the PS5 settings to make sure vibration and trigger effects are enabled, tried turning the controller off and back on, and even used the tiny reset button on the back.

What confuses me is that sometimes the controller vibrates normally during startup or menu navigation, but once I launch a game, it barely does anything. I also tested another controller on the same console and that one works perfectly, so I’m pretty sure it’s the controller itself.

Before I open it up or buy a replacement, has anyone here fixed this issue successfully? Was it software-related, battery-related, or did the rumble motor just fail over time? Any suggestions would help because the controller is otherwise in perfect condition.

How to use a PS5 controller on a Raspberry Pi?

Bluetooth controller support on Raspberry Pi seems way better now than it used to be, especially with all the retro gaming and emulation setups people are building lately. I kept seeing videos of people using PS5 DualSense controllers smoothly on RetroPie and Batocera, so I figured it would be pretty straightforward.

Got the controller paired to my Raspberry Pi 5 through Bluetooth without much trouble, and technically it does connect. The problem starts once I actually launch games. Sometimes the buttons map wrong, sometimes the analog sticks drift like crazy, and a few games don’t recognize inputs at all unless I reconnect the controller again. Weirdest part is that the PS button occasionally opens random menus instead of acting normally.

Tried both RetroPie and a clean Raspberry Pi OS setup with Steam Link just to compare. USB connection feels more stable, but I was really hoping to make wireless work properly. Also noticed some people mentioning firmware updates for the controller itself, while others say it’s more of a driver/kernel thing on Linux.

Mostly trying to figure out the “proper” setup people are using right now:

  • Bluetooth or wired?
  • DS4drv / Steam Input / native drivers?
  • Any specific settings that stop input lag or random disconnects?
  • Does updating the DualSense firmware actually help on Pi?

Would appreciate hearing from people who already got this running reliably because I feel like I’m close, but something in the setup chain is still off.

Why is my PS5 controller's light bar flashing green?

Seen a bunch of different explanations online for PS5 controller light colors, but the flashing green one seems weirdly inconsistent depending on where you look. Some people say it’s pairing related, others say battery issues, and a few mention software glitches or even hardware problems.

Mine started doing this yesterday out of nowhere. The light bar flashes green repeatedly when I turn the controller on, and sometimes it won’t connect to the console at all. Other times it connects for like 20 seconds and then disconnects again. I already tried restarting the PS5, plugging the controller in with USB, and hitting the reset button on the back with a pin, but the behavior is still happening randomly.

What’s confusing me is that the controller was working perfectly fine earlier this week. No drops, no water damage, nothing obvious. The battery also wasn’t low before this started happening.

Has anyone here dealt with the flashing green light specifically? Trying to figure out if this sounds more like a syncing issue, firmware problem, or the controller itself starting to fail.

How to use the PS5 "High Contrast" mode?

Saw a few people mention the PS5 High Contrast accessibility setting recently and it got me curious because I didn’t even realize the console had that feature built in. From what I understand it’s supposed to make menus and certain UI elements easier to distinguish, especially for people dealing with eye strain or visibility issues, but I’m confused about how it’s actually meant to be used day-to-day.

I turned it on last night just to test it and the colors/UI looked really different. Some parts were easier to read, especially text, but other stuff looked almost too intense or weirdly inverted depending on the screen. I also noticed some games seemed unaffected while system menus changed a lot more.

Trying to figure out a few things:

  • Does High Contrast only fully work in the PS5 menus or do games support it too?
  • Do people leave it on permanently or just enable it for certain situations?
  • Is there a recommended combo of HDR / brightness / contrast settings that makes it work better?
  • Does it help with eye fatigue over longer gaming sessions or is it mostly for accessibility needs?

Been getting more eye strain lately during late-night gaming sessions and I’m wondering if I’m setting it up wrong or expecting the wrong thing from the feature. Curious how other people here actually use it in practice.

How to find the PS5 "Model Number" on the console?

A lot of guides online mention checking the PS5 model number before buying accessories, replacement plates, or even troubleshooting overheating issues, but surprisingly most of them don’t clearly explain where to actually find it on the console itself.

I recently started looking into getting a replacement stand and possibly upgrading storage, and I noticed some sellers specifically ask for the PS5 “model number” instead of just saying Disc or Digital Edition. Now I’m second guessing whether I’m looking at the right number or not.

I checked the bottom/back of the console and found a few different codes and labels, but I’m not sure which one is the actual model number people refer to. Is it the CFI number? And does the location differ between the original PS5 and the Slim models?

Would appreciate if someone could point out the exact spot on the console where I should be looking and maybe explain which code matters when ordering compatible accessories or parts. Trying to avoid buying the wrong stuff.

A lot of people talk about stick drift with the PS5 controller, but the trigger tension issue seems way more annoying once it happens. I’ve seen a few posts and videos mentioning the adaptive triggers either getting super loose or feeling uneven compared to the other side, especially after playing games that use heavy trigger resistance a lot.

Mine started acting weird this week. The R2 trigger suddenly feels much softer than the L2, and there’s almost no resistance at the start of the pull anymore. The adaptive feedback still works sometimes, but it feels inconsistent and kind of “clicky” now. It almost feels like something inside slipped out of place.

I haven’t dropped the controller or opened it before, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is usually:

  • a broken trigger spring,
  • an adaptive trigger motor issue,
  • or just something that can be reset/fixed without replacing parts.

I’m comfortable opening electronics if needed, but I’d rather not make things worse. For anyone who fixed this before:

  • Did replacing the spring actually solve it long term?
  • Are aftermarket springs reliable?
  • Is this repair beginner-friendly or super tedious?
  • Also, does continuing to use it risk damaging the trigger mechanism further?

Would appreciate any advice before I order parts or take the controller apart.

A lot of newer Smart TVs seem to support cloud gaming apps and even native game streaming now, so I figured connecting a PS5 controller directly to the TV should be pretty straightforward. But after trying it myself, I’m realizing it’s way less consistent than I expected.

I’m trying to use a DualSense controller with my Smart TV mainly for cloud gaming and some emulators/apps, without having to turn on the actual PS5 every time. The controller pairs through Bluetooth, but some buttons either don’t respond correctly or there’s noticeable input lag depending on the app. In a few cases the TV recognizes the controller but games don’t.

I’ve already tried:

  • Re-pairing the controller
  • Updating the TV software
  • Connecting through Bluetooth instead of USB
  • Testing different gaming apps

What’s confusing is that some people online say it works perfectly for them while others say Smart TV support is still hit-or-miss depending on the TV brand and OS.

For anyone here using a PS5 controller directly with a Smart TV:

  • Which TV brand/model are you using?
  • Do you notice lag or button mapping issues?
  • Is there a better setup I should be using instead?
  • Would something like a streaming stick or external device work more reliably?

Just trying to avoid buying extra hardware if there’s a simple fix I’m missing.

Noticed that the DualSense light bar is usually tied to player status, charging, and certain in-game cues, so when it stops working it feels like something’s off beyond just cosmetics.

Ran into this issue yesterday where my controller works completely fine otherwise — buttons respond, adaptive triggers are normal, vibration is there — but the light bar just doesn’t turn on at all. No glow when powering on, no color change in games, nothing when charging either.

Tried the obvious stuff like restarting the console, reconnecting the controller, and even switching cables, but still no sign of life from the light. It’s not affecting gameplay directly, but it’s bugging me because I can’t tell if it’s a setting I accidentally changed or if something’s starting to fail.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a hidden setting for the light bar I might’ve missed, or is this usually a hardware issue when it goes completely dark?

Subtitles and captions are supposed to make games way more accessible, especially in story-heavy titles where dialogue matters a lot, but the settings on PS5 feel weirdly inconsistent depending on the game.

Some games turn subtitles on automatically but only for cutscenes, while others seem to ignore system settings completely unless you dig into the in-game menu. And captions vs subtitles also feels unclear—sometimes captions include sound cues, sometimes they don’t show anything at all.

Ran into this while playing a few different games recently where dialogue either came up too small, disappeared during gameplay, or just didn’t match what was actually being said unless I changed multiple settings across both the console and the game itself.

Went into the PS5 accessibility settings and turned on subtitles there, but it didn’t seem to override anything in-game. Then tried adjusting within individual games, but each one labels things differently (subtitles, closed captions, dialogue text, etc.), so it gets confusing fast.

Is there a “correct” way to set this up so it works consistently across all games, or is it basically always a per-game thing on PS5? Also wondering if anyone has figured out the difference in practice between captions and subtitles on this system, because the behavior feels inconsistent depending on the title.

Mostly just trying to get a setup where I don’t have to manually fix settings every time I launch a new game.

It’s kind of surprising how something as basic as a console manual isn’t super obvious to locate anymore. Back in the day, you’d just flip through a booklet in the box, but now everything’s “digital-first”… except sometimes it feels like those digital guides are hidden behind menus or scattered across support pages.

I’ve been trying to find the official PS5 User’s Guide online (not random blog posts or YouTube walkthroughs), mainly because I want a clear reference for system settings, parental controls, and some of the lesser-known features. I checked Sony’s site, but I keep getting redirected between support articles instead of a proper structured guide.

Maybe I’m just missing something obvious, but I’d really prefer a clean, official manual-style resource I can bookmark or skim through.

Has anyone here found a proper link to the full guide, or is everything just broken up into separate help pages now?

I’ve seen a lot of scattered advice about DualSense controllers getting stuck trying to connect, but most of it feels inconsistent or outdated. Some people say it’s a cable issue, others blame firmware, and a few suggest it’s just random interference — so I figured it’s worth asking directly here.

My controller suddenly refuses to properly sync with my PS5. When I press the PS button, it just keeps blinking blue like it’s searching, but never actually connects. I’ve tried the usual stuff: restarting the console, using a USB cable to pair it again, even resetting the controller with the little button on the back. Sometimes it briefly connects, then drops again after a minute or two.

It started happening out of nowhere — no drops, no damage, nothing changed in my setup. The console itself seems fine, and I don’t have another controller to test with right now, which makes troubleshooting a bit harder.

Has anyone here dealt with this and found a consistent fix? Is this more likely a hardware issue, or something I can solve at home? Open to any suggestions before I consider replacing it.

A lot of people say Linux gaming has come a long way (and I agree), but controller support still feels like one of those areas where things can either “just work” or turn into a rabbit hole real quick.

I’ve been trying to use a PS5 DualSense controller on my Linux PC, and I’m running into some confusion about the best way to set it up. I’ve seen multiple approaches mentioned—Bluetooth vs wired, using Steam Input, relying on kernel drivers, or even third-party tools like ds4drv or others—and I’m not sure which route is the most reliable in 2026.

Right now, my situation is a bit inconsistent:

  • Wired connection seems to work sometimes, but not all games detect it properly.
  • Bluetooth connects, but I get occasional input lag or random disconnects.
  • Steam recognizes the controller, but outside of Steam (like emulators or non-Steam games), it’s hit or miss.

I’m mainly trying to:

  • Use the controller across both Steam and non-Steam games
  • Avoid weird mapping issues
  • Ideally get features like haptics or adaptive triggers working (if that’s even realistic on Linux?)

So I guess my questions are:

  • What’s the current “go-to” method for using a PS5 controller on Linux?
  • Are there specific drivers or tools I should be using (or avoiding)?
  • Is Bluetooth just inherently less reliable here, or am I doing something wrong?
  • Any distro-specific tips? (I’m on a fairly up-to-date system)

Would really appreciate hearing what setups are working for you all, especially if you’ve managed to get a smooth, plug-and-play experience.

The PS5 seems to have a surprisingly deep Accessibility menu compared to older consoles, but it’s not always obvious how to actually use those features in a practical way. A lot of the options sound great on paper—screen reader, zoom, button remapping, closed captions—but navigating and configuring them feels a bit overwhelming.

I was going through the settings recently and realized I probably haven’t been taking advantage of half of what’s there. Some features seem like they’d be really useful depending on the game, but I’m not sure how people are actually integrating them into their setup.

For example, the zoom function sounds helpful, but I can’t figure out if people use it regularly during gameplay or just situationally. Same with things like text size and contrast—do they actually apply consistently across games, or is it hit-or-miss?

Personally, I’ve been struggling a bit with eye strain during longer sessions, and I was hoping some of these settings might help. I tried tweaking a few options, but I’m not really sure what works best or if I’m overlooking something obvious.

So for those of you who actively use the Accessibility menu:

  • Which settings do you actually use day-to-day?
  • Are there any “hidden gems” in there that made a big difference for you?
  • Any tips for setting things up efficiently without constantly going back into menus?

Would really appreciate hearing how others are using it in real scenarios

I noticed that a lot of electronics these days tuck away their legal and regulatory information in the most random places—sometimes it’s in the settings, sometimes buried in manuals, and other times you have to dig through official websites just to find something basic like compliance info or certifications.

So here’s where I’m stuck: I’ve been trying to locate the “Legal” and “Regulatory” info on my PS5, and I genuinely feel like I’m missing something obvious. I checked through the system settings but didn’t immediately see anything clearly labeled, and the documentation that came with the console wasn’t super helpful either.

I’m trying to find things like licensing details, compliance info, or any official regulatory statements tied to the console. Not for anything shady—just curiosity and a bit of a deep dive into how these things are documented.

Has anyone here found it before? Is it somewhere in the system UI, or do I need to go through Sony’s website? Would appreciate any pointers because I feel like I’m going in circles
