GM Charging for ECM updates?
Got a 23 AT4 with the 3.0, CEL comes on throw on the OBD reader and get a P2002 code - Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold. Take it into the Dealership as the ECM and exhaust is under warranty (not the BtoB). They check it out and there’s a service bulletin for an ECM software update. Great, GM knows theres a problem and it will covered under warranty. Nope, want the Diagnostic service charge and $350 to run a forced regen to make sure the problem is the software and not something else.
Is GM now charging for software updates?
I also think it’s funny that they want $350 to run the forced regen to verify the software was the problem, but if it’s not a software issue the repairs to the emission system would be covered under warranty.
