I want a Garmin because of the exceptional battery life. I don't care for all the GPS, maps and health tracking available although having a step counter will be nice, but not essential. I would like to know if I can switch all these things off on most models, and only have the display on? Is it possible to create or download (or buy) custom displays, like Tag, Omega, etc.?

I like how the Garmin Fenix looks and even though it'll be a waste of all its functions, I just want the battery life and a backlit (or legible screen). I'll switch all the other stuff off (if it is possible). What would you recommend? Thank you!
