My daughter is 18 and has $3,500 she wants to invest. I’m trying to help her set this up the right way from the start instead of chasing hype.

The goal is long-term, not trading.

I’ve been seeing a mix of ideas lately. AI, semis, space stocks, etc. but also a lot of people saying just stick to index funds early on.

From what I’ve gathered a lot of beginners regret going all-in on random picks early. Many recommend starting with broad market ETFs before getting fancy. So I’m trying to strike a balance between learning + not blowing up her first account

If you were 18 again with $3,500 in today’s market, how would you allocate it?

Not looking for YOLO play. More like Solid set and forget base or a couple smart growth ideas she can understand and follow. She will also be adding $500 bi weekly.

Appreciate any thoughts 🙏
