Australia, NSW A friend it’s a bindi and that it’s going to be too spiky to walk on eventually, but looking up bindies, looks different

We’ve just moved into a place that has an old vine plant that’s suffocated a lot of other plants and looks like it’s going to be years of chipping away at the roots to get rid of it. Not sure what this one is, but just making sure it’s something more mellow and won’t take over everything?
