Anyone have any good reccomendations because I am broke and I am trying to pass first try.
Edit: I drive around Wallsend the most but I heard it’s a bad place
Bit of context first: I work out of a computer workshop on Maitland Road in Mayfield, alongside IC-Solutions, who've been fixing PCs in Mayfield for over 20 years. Giving something back to the town has always been part of how we both operate.
So this Friday night we're hosting a repair café at the workshop, organised by the crew at The Full Circle Collective. They run these all over Newcastle every other month; if you've ever been to one, I'm the bloke in the corner arguing with the electronics.
Bring down small electronics, gadgets and tech that's a bit worse for wear. Laptops, PCs, consoles, amps, small gadgets - that sort of thing. No TVs or lamps, sorry. If it's a straightforward fix, we'll have a crack at it on the spot. If it isn't, we'll work out the best advice for what to do with it next; sometimes that's a part to order, sometimes it's "this one's had it, and here's how to get rid of it properly".
Labour is completely free. You only pay cost price for any parts we actually need (or you can absolutely bring your own!).
Oh, and The Unwearable Project will be here too, collecting any and all (CLEAN!) synthetic textiles... (I don't even know what that means, but apparently some of you good peeps do/will?)
Friday 21 August, 5pm to 7.30pm
150 Maitland Road, Mayfield - Across from Coles. Can't miss us.
RSVP (helps us work out how much bench space to clear): https://events.humanitix.com/pop-up-tech-repair-cafe-itar
Only catch is you have to listen to our tunes, and not complain... too much :D
Feel free to hit us with any questions or if you can bring specific stuff below ⬇️
Hi all, I get these weird headaches/?migraines that are left sided over my scalp but seem to start from my neck. They are awful and i feel like i can barely hold my head up and my neck/face/jaw muscles on the left become really tender. I got one of these headaches today and (in addition to a shit tonne of aspirin) a friend massaged my neck HARD and it seemed to make it better. Is there anywhere in Newcastle you'd recommend for massage for something like this? Has anyone else experienced anything like this and has other recommendations?
Has anyone here made the move to port Macquarie or is from port Macquarie?
Debating moving there but curious to hear how others have found it. For context we have young kids
Thanks
What is the cheapest dog boarding for longterm? 1-2 months period. Thanks.
Hey there!
Posting this to get your honest opinion,
I work in a global company and there's a possibility of me getting a manager job in a recently opened facility in Newcastle,
The contract I would go for is not a permanent job, it would 2 to 3 years in AUS to live the experience, get the job experience also.
I would be going with my wife (27) and myself (32), no kids but we would like to bring our dog.
We live in Madrid, Spain.
The reason why I would consider it is because I have been in Newcastle already, just for a week because of work and I loved it.
Also I think it's the right time to live the experience and then come back to Spain and settle.
What would you have to say to me, for me to have in consideration before taking this decision.
We love hiking and beaches... Is it too dangerous to do these things with the amount of wildlife you have or it's just myths and media that makes it look that bad.
Also how is it with the housing, and cost of living?
Last question, in general, do local people do not like when their manager is a foreigner? Would it bring me problems?
EDIT: Wow!! I've been getting so many good comments and feedback from you guys, thanks for that!
A little update in my situation, the offer has not been presented to me yet but what I've heard is that it's supposed to be my salary (according to my position and salary margins of that position in the area) + cost of housing (according to market levels in that area) + bonus for the wife as she's not guaranteed to work. The vehicle is still not on the table but I'm pretty sure it should be added to.
If this is all correct I should not worry about commercials right ? Nevertheless as you have been fully supporting I will post here the offer and you guys could help me identify if it's a true-to-market offer or not.
My main concern and my wife's BIGGEST concern is the dog, she's on the negative side of putting our dog on that process even though I have contacted a specialized company that takes care of these types of transfers (NOT CHEAP AT ALL) but in my mind if you're to do it the best is to do it the right way, and they tell you all the vaccines and process's you need to do prior the flight and quarantine

The Newcastle to Sydney High Speed Rail project has moved further into the Development Stage with three major construction consortia shortlisted for an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process following a competitive tender:
Acciona John Holland Joint Venture
Advanced Alliance Joint Venture: Gamuda Engineering, FCC Construction Australia, Samsung C&T Corporation;
GoFar Joint Venture: CPB Contractors, Ferrovial Construction (Australia), VINCI Construction Grands Projects Australia.
These groups will now compete with each other to develop plans for Area Package 1, which is the section of the Newcastle to Sydney route between Berowra and Ourimbah. This approach seeks to get the best outcome on construction costs and program timeframes:
About 35km of twin tunnels between Berowra and Ourimbah, delivered using tunnel boring machines;
Construction of the Central Coast High Speed Rail Station at Gosford; and nstallation of all rail and station systems and other structural and surface infrastructure works across the Berowra to Ourimbah section of the corridor
Are they abandoned
Does anyone live here ? 🤔
I think people genuinely do not know this! Commiserations to anyone else on Maud St earlier this morning.
Mid 30’s Married dad of 2, looking to get out & make some new mates. Been buried in work and kids and lost contact with most of my mates.
Have just started on a fitness journey so anything that gets me outside and the blood pumping is of interest at the moment.
Keen to also join the gym but haven’t decided where yet.
Also a mad Knights supporter!!
Any blokes keen to make a new mate swing me a message or drop a comment.
Cheers!
Looking for a venue for a young lads birthday party. Not interested in Timezone, Ninjaparc, revolution etc. Looking for a hall of some sort thats for hire where we can do our own games and entertainment.
Ideally in Newcastle, Cooks Hill, Merewether, Hamilton Area.
Thanks.
Just last week, I picked up an old untested audio amplifier/subwoofer from my neighbour that he didn’t want anymore, and I connected my Sound Burger AT-SB 727 that I had for two years with the red and white line audio connector just out of curiosity. When I turned it on, I heard a loud POP, and it apparently wasn’t playing it off the speaker. I then used the Bluetooth speakers and despite a successful connection. It still wouldn’t play from the speakers. I tried every speaker and I am absolutely scared that I might have fried the thing almost completely despite the Sound Burger playing the record. Much help would be appreciated if you can tell me what is wrong with my Sound Burger.
Okay! September 4!

Hi, anyone here a Star Wars collector?
My mum has given me a bunch of ‘collectables’ including games, figurines and books, with tie-ins to original trilogy and prequels (a lot of episode 1) and some extended universe things. Some in OG packaging, most opened in ziplock bags.
I’m wanting guidance on what is worth keeping, selling, or donating - happy to send pics of the different things to those interested.
Any help would be grateful!
Here to share one of my favourite spots in newy since returning and settling down up here.
If you haven’t paid a visit, you will need to at La Chosita. Just next to Saint and moon on Maitland road in Islington/hamilton.
Since returning from South America and missing the energy, culture, vibe, people, laughs, music…(you can tell I left half my soul in South America). Jason ( the owner) and his amazing cooking will give it to you without spending 3k+ on a plane ticket.
Sorry not advertising but thought to share the love. If you’ve been let me know your thoughts.
It would be cool if salsa socials that happen on mondays at the exchange took place here !
