Anyone else noticed that the way they work out refunds are broken?

i had a refund recently where i bought some stuff with a small discount and they short changed me on the refund by something like 50p and i couldnt be bothered chasing it up

but on a more recent order i bought 2 random items and 4 cat litter, the cat litter had a coupon for 2 for £20 instead of 11.99 each.

i bought 4 cat litter, so two on coupon price and two on full price.

1 bag never showed up and tracking says it was damaged in transit but i went on customer service chat for a refund since they wernt going to send another one out.

the customer service guy was refunding 7.25 for 1 cat litter even though they were 11.99 each full price and £10 on offer (the offer was only available on 2 bags max)

they should have just refunded the 11.99 for the bag that didnt show up

tbh thats a dodgy way of doing refunds, its like they try to associate another items dicount with an undiscounted item and make out that thats fine, its a really weird way of working out refunds

luckily they managed to work around it by refunding my amazon prime to get me most of my money back since the system should have just let him put the refund through for the 11.99 since that bag had no discount applied it it and i had paid full price for it, still short changed about 20p but who cares i guess.

but just thought id mention it on here incase people havnt noticed

i think from now on im going to order each item i buy seperately and not mix them into one order because it seems amazon will maximise their return of any discounts issued, by selectively trying to refund the offer item and not counting the refund as the full price item. and also taking discounts from other items in a purchase and spreading it to other items that didnt have any discounts so that they can refund you less than you paid for an item
