I've been watching the sport since 1998 and somehow several years after his official retirement I just now noticed the irony that how Jeff Gordon owned half the rights to Jimmie Johnson that Jimmie Johnson's number 48 is double of Jeff Gordon's number 24. (24x2=48). Please tell me I am not the only one just now noticing this. Otherwise better fitting half of 48 is 24.
After "The Big One" on lap 20 of 160 of the Pepsi 400 of July in 1995 taking 28 cars out of the race. Green flag came back out ran 2 laps and parked it due to safety concerns on running the car on the track. Was running 148 mph compared to the 190+ I was running and loosing 6 seconds a lap on everyone else so ended up finishing 13th after starting 38th. Led a couple laps but after bumping drafting Mark Martin while he inadvertently hit the brakes to check up due to a slower car "we were 1st and 2nd lined up at the time" created a roadblock from the start finish line all the way to the exit of pit road for no one to be able to come out unscathed at least not without a scratch minimum. See you next weekend for the 50 Slick 300 at Loudon New Hampshire for it's third running.
After leading 190/200 Laps starting on the pole at UAW-GM Teamwork 500 at Pocono Raceway I claimed my 5th win of the 1995 Season finishing a lap ahead of runner up Bobby Labonte in the #18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The #37 Coca Cola Chevrolet Monte Carlo (my car) was very strong all day far surpassed rookie records of most races won in a rookie season. Due to an incident that occurred in turn 1 involving Jeff Gordon he finished 35th multiple laps down, this being said the point standings in the top 5 have greatly tightened up heading into next weekend at Michigan for the Miller Genuine Draft 400. Standings after this weekends race are as follow:
