RE2003 v0.0.01 Release Teaser

The UI for RE2003 v0.0.01 is complete. As for the tracks, I’m sifting through with the way papyrus codes them. They themselves actually have a tag in their source code for the zigzag issue I’m having, so it seems it’s something they also experienced and patched. I will likely be looking into the sandbox/track maker to further understand how this works and develop a fix. Lighting is easy, and I’m not worried about that but that and skyboxes will be next.

Reminder, my goal is to purely reverse engineer the mechanics of NR2003. I’m maybe 8-10 hours in of actual development time. I will release this as a standalone mod/track explorer type software soon as a “demo” of RE2003.

I also wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and welcoming to the community. I hope to be an asset here.

Could not load track? PSA for beginners: Modern tracks require a modern shared folder.

The game shipped with a shared folder inside the tracks directory that contains files used by all of the original Papyrus tracks.

Over the years, track builders added new objects, textures, and other assets. Rather than including those files with every single track, most modern tracks reference an updated shared folder instead. This keeps download sizes much smaller.

Some track makers include everything you need with the download. Others assume you already have their updated shared folder installed. If you don’t, you’ll often get the infamous “Could not load track” error.

If you’re installing a modern track and it won’t load, the stock shared folder that came with NR2003 is often the problem.
One of the most commonly used updated shared folders is the one released by Revamped Reloaded. Dr Noise’s “How to Install NR2003 in 2025” guide, in Part 2, links to the Revamped Reloaded shared folder and additional updated shared files to get you up to date with modern track makers.

Alternatively, here’s the shared folder we use in my league. It combines several of the commonly used shared folders into one and has been compatible with virtually every track we’ve encountered.

Hopefully this saves a few people some frustration. If you’re getting a “Could not load track” error on a modern track, try updating your shared folder before creating a new thread.

Nr2003 reverse engineering (RE2003)

Hey there! My names Cameron, I’m new face to the NR2003 modding scene but wanted to introduce myself to the community. I have loved NR2003 since I was a child. Now that I’m older and have the skills, I’m attempting to tackle a new project. I want to reverse engineer the entire simulator. So far, I have reverse engineered the cars, and driver models. Here is a peak at what that looks like. I’m currently working on the tracks then I will move on to the physics. The plan is to re-release the game engine as a “new” open source NR2003 alternative but in all reality it will feel and behave just like NR2003 and eventually can be built into an entirely new engine. This is very early and have no timeline, but this is what I’ll be working on in my free time for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming NR2003 Overlay Program.... Now With Stages!

So I've had questions about this being compatible with Auto Stages. Unfortunately since NR2003 only allows the telemetry slot to be occupied by one program it isn't.

However since I couldn't get in touch with BT Zero, I kind of reverse engineered how Auto Stages works and was able to implement it into what I'm now calling Project SteelFire Overlays.

I got the stage cautions to work, stage winners to show up in the overlay (as well as fastest lap). Any other features from Auto Stages yall would want?

With all that being said, I'm out of town with my family for the 4th. I'll get back into development next week. Hope to have something available for yall soon!

How can I get this game to run on my AMD GPU?

So I swapped from an nvidia gpu to an amd one as the fans in my nvidia one were failing, I reinstalled the game, and tried launching it. Meanwhile the game crashes as soon as I press Drive on the race menu.

I installed DGVoodoo and messed with a few settings, no luck, put D8D9.dll in the root folder, no luck.

So, what other troubleshooting steps should I try? I know the game worked on my nvidia gpu before I replaced it. Also I'm on the 1.2.0.1 patch.

AI Enhanced Issue

Whenever a lap triggers, I get the error:

[json.exception.parse_error.101] parse error at line 1, column 1: syntax error while parsing value - invalid literal; last read: ';'

Is there a fix for this?
