Advice on buying first RAV4

Hiya, I am looking at buying my first gen1 RAV4, for context I'm 20 and going to be taking this to university as a daily driver. The car has 88k miles and I've messaged the seller and he says there's little to no history on the vehicle.

What is your guys experience with the gen1, I don't want running costs to be too high, I've read that they devour oil, but not sure how true that is. Tax is £375 I think. I am worried with the MOT showing signs of corrosion to the vehicle structure and suspension arms.

The seller also appears to be selling lots of cars from his house, as opposed to it being a dealership, a bit worried about that as well.

Any advice or help is appreciated!

First Generation Toyota RAV4

I'm eyeing up this Mark 1 RAV4 from 2000 for my second ever car. It's listed at £3000

It has 87K miles, Owner says it has a partial history. Has had 7 previous owners.

Tax for a car like this in the UK is £375 which is insane but tbh I love the look of the car and have heard many good things. I'm a bit worried about fuel consumption and I've read that it loves to eat oil. What do you guys think?

Not too sure about the MOT, as you can see suspension and rust look like problems at the moment, what are your experiences with these on cars similar?
