Delay the release.

As I know many others have echoed, the game simply is not in a realistic place to be released in 2 weeks given the state it is in. 6 months is probably a more realistic time table.

This game is fun. It has the potential to be a VERY popular game. But it is lacking in the necessary areas to have a release that doesn't sour the brand's reputation.

Here are a list of my most notable issues from talking to friends and community members, as well as my own personal experience playing the Hell Let Loose: Vietnam - Playtest (open beta):

Optimization: Even on a new PC the stability was shoddy at best, and hearing from those with hardware a few generations old the game is near unplayable for them. This isn't something that is going to be fixed in a 2 week period.

Ranged Aiming: For some reason almost everyone I have talked to has had the similar experience of enemies rubber-banding when zoomed in either down a scope or with binoculars etc.. Enemies start bouncing around and it is almost impossible to land consistent shots.

The foliage: Up close you can't see anything until someone is one foot in front of you, but with foliage turned down and you are looking at a distance out where things aren't rendered in yet, you see people clear as day, too clearly. There needs to be some switching here, it needs to be easier to see people in fire-fights and in brush within the normal fire-fight distance, and harder to see people farther away.

Red dots: There are red dots from what we guessed are leftover from the radar scan that just stay on the map forever, making the map super difficult to use in any meaningful way and makes radar useless.

Balancing: Simply put NVA is just better. The M16 does not feel good when it really should, tunnels are OP for like more reasons than I can count, and most of all, the gameplay loop because of the tunnels just makes NVA more fun. The speed at which you can hit objectives is delightful. Nerfing them is CERTAINLY NOT THE MOVE PLEASE DONT NERF THEM. Make the US better. The US needs a gimic like the tunnels. IDC if it's not historically accurate or whatever, there needs to be an equivalently impactful mechanic for the US.

Detail: The game just doesn't feel.....complete? Like the one map we played on just feels like it's lacking depth, soul and feel of the maps in the original HLL game. And yes, yes, it's only one map, I know. But if I'm going to assume the other maps on release are similar then this one, my point stands. It's just like....jungle. And hey, we get it, its Vietnam, but maybe take some creative liberties idk, it just needs to be more interesting. Then there are things like the smoke effects ands sound effects that just feel subpar to what we have gotten used to with HLL WW2. Like noticeably worse.

I am a huge fan of Hell Let Loose. It has been one of the games my friend group always comes back to and binges here and there on a regular basis. So I feel compelled to share my opinion about a game I truly want to be successful. And my opinion is that there is no way this game will be in a state by the proposed release date that is up the community's expectations. I hope whatever the company decides, that the game is successful for many years to come and that we have a blast playing it, but like I said I was compelled to say my peace. Thank you.

Edit: I’m not changing what I wrote because that is lame behavior. But I will add that I think some people are misunderstanding what I meant when I said “take some creative liberties” and “I don’t care if it’s historically accurate”. I AM NOT SAYING that it shouldn’t still be in the spirit of historical events. For example, the tunnels in this game are not historically accurate but they are still in the spirit of the historical context. The way we communicate in this game (not using comm stations) is not historically accurate but we still have chain of command etc in the spirit of historical context. It’s a video game, above all it needs to be fun, and the devs taking these creative liberties to make cool stuff in the spirit of historical context is what I was championing for, mostly in relation to the US battle experience.
