C’mon Fire-Lite
Hey Guys,
Had an ES-50x today, installed two months ago, that had a pretty interesting issue.
Property management calls screaming that the fire alarm is going off (panel is just beeping but whatever, we all know these folks can’t seem to discern from a trouble beep and actual evacuation signals). Central station and logs say that system is and has been testing normally, sprinkler work two days ago showed all signals are reporting just fine.
I arrive on site and the panel shows “System Normal” however the trouble LED is illuminated and the Ack Button check mark is green. It is as if someone had acknowledged a trouble, but the panel just shows system normal. I take a battery lead off, panel starts beeping, Ack button green LED turns off, yellow trouble LED flashes, I can press Ack and the panel silences and trouble LED goes Solid. I put the battery lead back on, battery trouble clears, display shows “System Normal”, ack button is still green and the trouble LED is still solid yellow.
I meter the wiring, no apparent faults present. Supervision of all wiring is good, panel responds and clears appropriately upon opens, shorts, and grounds.
I power cycled the panel and it did not clear. I power cycled a second time to get some meter readings of the board and on this second boot, the issue is gone.
Have you guys seen this one before? Hopefully it is just a one time thing.
