(Sorry for the title lol. I'm just kind of fed up with nonchalant, low-effort 'friends'.)

I'm an artist and I've been in hiding for all of my life, so I have no clue how artists find other artists to befriend. I don't know about any art events (I'm not invited) I'm very broke, and Instagram is very overwhelming for me. So I'm very isolated from the community. If you are an artist, do you have other artists as friends? If so, how did you find them? What tips can you give me so that I can find more people who align with me?
