Just bought a YAS-23…

This is my first Reddit post in well over a decade (and obviously the first on this account)… here goes.

I played the saxophone from 2000-2003 when I was a wee, young lad. Started off with alto for a year, and then played tenor for the rest (6th - 9th grade). I always had to play within the constraints of the sheet music I was provided, but still enjoyed it. Did the whole jazz band thing, and then marching band in my last year (we won the state title!).

However, I really didn’t fit in with the band kids, so I quit after that year.

Fast forward 23 years, I’m now a family / career man looking to get back into old hobbies (I can’t forget about me at the end of the day).

On a whim, last week, I decided to bid on a YAS-23 and won! It’ll be delivered sometime next week and will be the first sax I ever own outright. 🥹

I’m obviously very rusty, but I’m really excited to make playing the sax a part of my life again; this time, on my own terms.

I bought reeds, a Neotech strap, some sheet music, etc.

This may be a super broad question, but what advice would you all have for me after almost a quarter century respite?

I’m all ears. Thanks in advance!
