Ridge and gable vent
I just bought this house with a detached garage (gable roof) and the previous owner just had a new roof and ridge vent installed on the roof less than a year ago. The problem is that the roof has a gable vent only on one side near the ridge vent and the roof itself has no soffit. All the wood sheathing underneath looks new which I assume the old one got destroyed from lack of ventilation on hot days with all that trapped hot air. How would one fix the ventilation problem. The gable vent is short circuiting air flow so there is no adequate ventilation. Would it be beneficial to add a gable vent on the other side with/without a fan and plug the ridge vents? Install bird hole vents on either side of the building? I also thought about building a box over the current gable vents and making the opening for air lower down the wall so air can be pulled lower
