Touring the Angel on Kanopy

Touring the Angel on Kanopy

For any fellow Devotees out there with a Kanopy account (absolutely free with a public library card, US only), Touring the Angel will be streaming starting Oct 23rd. Just a little heads up!

You can obviously find it on YouTube as well, but if you'd like to support your public library system with a Kanopy account this is a good way to do it.

Terrible Lies

Was cleaning the garage and found this. I think I picked it up in Colorado Springs while on vacation some years ago. Or maybe Nashville? Anyway, this show is definitely archived. Only bummer is this CD is missing "Happiness in Slavery", which was the show closer. Was a cool thing to find out in the wild.

Have any of y'all found other bootleg recordings in physical format out there?

Met Bobert

The Cure did a show in El Paso on May 17, 2016. I got to meet Robert Smith outside the band's hotel and was incredibly fixated on this chance encounter (was heading to grab lunch, saw a bunch of goths outside a hotel and a tour bus so I walked over) that I completely missed the rest of the guys (peep Simon in the background!)

The show was amazing. Three plus hours. The arena emptied out over time and the band played with even more energy as the crowd thinned out. And exactly a year later my band played a show in El Paso and I got a commemorative tattoo.

I've seen The Cure three times now, hoping for more. But man, what a day! I'm just happy I was at the right place at the right time. I forgot I was hungry from all the excitement. And the tattoo is usually always a good conversation starter when I'm out and about.

Have any of y'all had any cool chance encounters with The Cure? Would love to know!

EDIT: it was a bit strange seeing him without the makeup and wild, big hair. I gotta remember he's just as human as the rest of us. 🖤

That's gotta hurt.

Doing a home remodeling project at a client's house. Thought I walked into him being run over by his truck. It's just his shoes are in an awkward placement. Nobody's hurt!

20 years, 16 shows.

This was fun to do, look back and reflect on. Wish I had more shows under my belt. I'll try to bring it up to 20 on the next tour (fingers crossed!)

Spotted on Morrissey's IG

Bottom right, fan wearing a NIN tee.

How do y'all feel about Morrissey as either person or artist, or both?

Rocker Dave

Currently reading Words of the Universe, by Yvonne Smart (pretty good book with great detail behind each DM era), and seeing this picture of Dave hurts. We all know how difficult the SOFAD era was for the band, and at the worst case we would have definitely lost him. That gaze almost seems like a cry for help. Despite the challenges it's one of my favorite albums and I'm glad we live in a world where we still have DM. I'm happy they continued and are still giving us great music.

NIN "Hurt"/Depeche Mode "Speak to Me"

Hey y'all! Don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone compared some parallels with either song? Both are quite similar and given Trent and DMs history with substance misuse, particularly in the mid 90s, I find both songs to be eerily similar. But the underlying message ultimately is redemption. Thoughts on this?
