How to greet a (straight) man?
Please help me understand how (straight) men greet each other. I’m a (gay) man myself but my friend group has always consisted of women where we hug each other as a greeting. Recently I’ve found myself in social circles where men have wanted to greet me too with a form of hand shake, although not the traditional one. My problem with this is that it seems to me to be quite different from time to time and man to man. Sometimes only the handshake, other times it kind of turns into af fistbump, and sometimes I get pulled in to af tap on the back.
I often find myself in an awkward and uncomfortable situation where I don’t know what to do and where I try one thing and they another.
So please help me understand this phenomenon! Is there a standard and safe go to? For context, I live in Denmark, but I’d be interested to hear answers from other parts of the world too
