Paint correction/polish

Just picked up this 2000 sahara as my summer ride. Looks great until you're up close. There's a decent amount of scratches all around. I was thinking of using something like the chemical guys torqz polish & correction kit. But is the correction going to be too harsh on the 26 y/o clear coat? Would I be better off just doing clay bar, then polish, and maybe finish with a wax? I'm not looking for showroom, but I was hoping to shine it up a little and I don't want to make it worse. Of course I could pay someone but I was hoping to do as much as I can myself on this jeep, and I haven't done any detailing before.
