My closed work permit expired at the end of December 2025. Been on maintained status for visitor record and was it was refused yesterday ,

My OINP In-Demand Skills application is currently under assessment, and my employer is willing to support me through the all process. I’m hoping to obtain a work permit after nomination if I’m eligible.

1. What should I do now to maintain or restore my legal status in Canada?

2. Can I remain in Canada while waiting for my OINP nomination?

3. Would leaving Canada and waiting for nomination from my home country be a better option?

4. After nomination, what work permit options might be available to me?

I would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced a similar situation . Thank you in advance
