Moving to Lugano for work in July advice on temporary housing + residence registration (permesso B)
Hi everyone! I’m Italian, 26, and starting a new permanent job in Ticino in July. Super excited but also a bit lost on the practical side of things.
My main question: I’ve been told I need a rental contract to register as a resident and get my permesso B. But ideally I’d like to start with something temporary (a few months) while I find a permanent place. Does a sublet or a room in a flatshare work for official residence registration?
Also happy to receive any tips on:
• Where to look for housing in the Lugano area (\~1.200 CHF budget, close to a train station)
• What to watch out for as an Italian moving to Ticino
• Anything I wish I knew before moving 😄
Thanks in advance, this community is always super helpful! 🙏
