A small personal take/observation — contains Spoilers
A Maybe what I'm about to say is obvious, or it's already been discussed and I just missed it — and I'm not sure whether the creator did it intentionally — but I rewatched the series and I found it fascinating how the first two episodes essentially introduce both protagonists of the story.
What caught my attention first is the opening scene of Episode 1: there are so many camera cuts, but the character who gets the most screen time is Patrick Jane (I can't confirm this precisely, unfortunately) — and the scene does a great job of establishing his abilities as a mentalist right from the start.
Then in Episode 2 — [SPOILER] — the antagonist also gets a significant amount of screen time, and what I loved most is how that scene ends. Knowing where his character arc ultimately goes by the end of the series, that closing moment also highlights his capabilities in contrast to Jane's in a way that feels almost poetic in hindsight.
