First tattoo. Rate 0-10. 0 being trash.
Hello ladies and lads! Feel free to skip this reading and just rate! But I’d like to add context.
This is the first tattoo I’ve done on skin. My own thigh. I’d rather give myself a shitty tat than anyone else. Regardless. I’ve always loved tattoos. I have a steady career as a nurse but damna I’ve always wanted to be a tattoo artist.
Something about permanence on skin tickles my soul and warms me like my mommas colostrum during infancy. And I love the negative stigma tattoos give a person. People think we’re “bad”, but some of the greatest people I’ve met have a shit load of tattoos/body mods. Most people judge us but realize they were being judgmental after getting to know who we are beneath the tatts.
I was using different techniques to create this-for learning purposes. Volt mainly 5.2-6.0. Stroke 3.6 mainly and 3.0 or 3.2 for shading. I used 3RL, 5RS, 7RS, 11RM and 11M for learning purpose as well. I was patient and shaded mainly using pendulum with only black ink, creating depth slowly. My solid back areas are wack :( I don’t know I need to go deeper or increase voltage or both. I know stroke makes a difference too. I need to practice packing black. I need to practice it all
I still have to do one more run through the whole tattoo. I want to add some whites to add depth and pack the solid black areas nicely as well. The collar needs to be shaded better too to match the flow of the overall tattoo.
I honestly feel it looks solid for a FIRST tattoo consider all the shitty first tattoos I’ve seen. I got discouraged and stopped working on it cause I got tired of having a damn wound on my thigh every other week for 5 days. But honestly, I loved every minute I was working on it. It’s therapeutic.
Thank you all ladies and lads for reading and rating or just rating (:
